Patent litigation among mobile device manufacturers has become an international drama of sorts, with each brand seeking a forum in different regions and countries. In the most recent turn of events, Samsung has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Apple in France.

A report yesterday suggested that the iOS 5 Gold Master will be available at some point in the last week of September which would put Apple on track for an October release as previously rumored.

Amazon has had their Android Appstore with the free app of the day, however it looks like they have kicked off a new promotional offering dubbed Geek Week. The Geek Week promotion includes a select group of apps that appear to have a discount of 50 percent or greater.

Verizon released their FiOS on Demand app for select smartphones back in October of last year. And at the time they offered support for select Android handsets as well as some BlackBerry and Windows Mobile 6.5 devices. Of course, notably missing was anything in terms of iOS.
