DOE delayed Aptera until they got so despirate that all this inside fighting started. If you put cats in a box and take away their food they will eat each other up. They knew this. Microsoft claims 800 apps (which is still low compared to competitors Android and iPhone). However, when you look through Microsoft’s Mobile Market app store for software for your particular device, you find a much lower number of workable apps.

I think a lot of the 800 apps are just old ones that don’t work on many new devices. I think it is just a mess. Microsoft seems to be trying to pad out the application numbers in a vein attempt to make it look like there are more usable apps than there are.

No, I won’t be buying another Windows Mobile device, especially not a Windows Mobile 6.5 device. I’ll probably change to Android.

I just switched from Verizon to ATT and picked up a pair of Mythic phones. A close friend showed me his Eternity and I was blown away. ATT stopped selling the Eternity and said the Mythic is the next most current version.

I’ve ordered a data cable so I can start doing mods. I’m as green as green can be doing this (I won’t blow up the phone doing this will I?). I’m mostly interested in activating the GPS Navigation (read a bunch of threads on this).

In using the speakerphone, people on the other end say they hear an echo. Is this normal? It is rendering the speakerphone useless. Anyone else having this issue? Debating on whether to take it back to the store for another model.

Heres what I see happening short and long term. While I feel Verizon has had a bad business model in the past in not only overcharging people for their plans and phones but offering lousy ones at that usually. Not to mention they’re the infamous device killer controlling how you also USE a device.
That being said looks like they’ve turned over a new leaf with these Android devices. They are completely open with wifi and full android usability. Supposedly you could buy one unlocked and bring it to them and use it on their network too. With this move and supposedly the slated 13 devices to come out in the next 6 months it looks like Verizon is playing hard ball and looking to beat T-Mobile and Sprint to dust. AT&T is the only company out there large enough to combat not to mention they have the nice ace in the pocket iphone but that may not last if the exclusivity deal finally ends and iphone becomes available on Verizon. So now that VZ is finally becoming a decent carrier and not quite as bad I don’t think Sprint or T-Mobile have the coverage, products, or market share to really put a fight. If VZ’s plans go according to plan I say tmob and sprint are dead in two years. AT&T should last longer but its hard to say how long. For AT&T to live longer than five years from now they would have to jump on the 4G ETL networking first. Supposedly Verizon is already prepping and getting ready and if they hit the ground running with 4G service, which will be the next global standard, they will massacre the market and ultimately eliminate free market on the cellular market. I see the government stepping in and regulating things before that happens to ensure theres competition and free market opportunity.
This is my slightly pessimistic but I feel very plausible timeline. So I am watching these mobile battles closely for the next few years.
