Dubbed Fortis B-42 Black & Black, the automatic watch is expected to be available in a limited edition of only 2012 pieces. Samsung is making quite a fashion statement with their latest Samsung S9110 touchscreen watchphone. Meant for a France debut this month, the new Samsung S9110 is the world’s thinnest (just 11.98mm thick) touchscreen wristwatch. It comes with a stainless steel body, has a 1.76-inch glass and a scratch-proof touchscreen display.

Not exactly the next gadget you’ll bring home given its hefty price, but Zenith’s new Defy Xtreme Tourbillon Zero-G chronograph is all about creative watchmaking and deserves being featured in here. Part of the new DEFY XTREME 2009 collection, this exotic chronograph can handle extreme gravity conditions (the worse you can imagine) thanks to a tourbillon carriage that has been bundled within a free-moving gyroscopic-styled housing. That and of course the bunch of conical shaped regulator gears that allow the movement to always point down no matter how you have your hand positioned.

TokyoFlash have introduced a range of four new, limited edition watches from the (also) Japanese watch maker Independent which, if you haven’t been especially enamoured with TokyoFlash’s own offerings of late (and we certainly haven’t) may well appeal in that, whilst being overtly distinctive, they offer wholly less tacky (juvenile inspired?) styling than the company’s own recent brash offerings.

Watches are definitely a fashion statement. Just like you can tell a lot about a person by the shoes they wear, a watch can certainly be an indicator of cool as well. When I laid eyes upon the latest creation of hyper-chic watchmakers, URWERK, I was floored. The URWERK UR-CCI, or King Cobra as it’s known in the timepiece trade, is every bit the head turner. It was supposedly inspired by some kind of 1960s speedometer and it is the perfect combination of technology and testosterone laden design elements. (more…)
