What could give Eye-Fi View the leg up in this digital battle is how much easier it is to upload pictures, (you can upload the pics to the site directly from your Wi-Fi camera or Smartphone) and to share them. Once you have uploaded the pics to the Eye-Fi View site you can set sharing permissions that will alert certain people of your choosing that there are new pictures available for viewing. The site will even send an automated email to these people with a link to each new picture making it easier for those who are not internet savvy.

Eye-Fi View is free as long as you are okay with the pictures being deleted after seven days. For permanent storage you will either have to pay $4.99 a month or $49.99 a year.

The Panasonic MW-20 digital photo frame features a 9″ LCD display and can also work as a speaker dock thanks to the included 5.6mm Super Slim Semi Dome Speaker and Sound diffuser.

The display adjusts backlighting depending on ambient conditions and recharges your Apple device.

Aside from that, it also comes with an SD card slot as well as support for Panasonic’s LUMIX Scene Mode Playback.

Other notable features include displaying the clock, calendar or perhaps run some screensavers. However, it doesn’t come with WiFi or 3G support.

The Panasonic MW-20 digital photo frame is set to come out this November and retail for about $249.95.

In case you’re not too familiar, digital photo frames let you run a slideshow of your favorite digital photos in one easy to use package. And while many of them will also offer support for video and MP3, not all of them can handle AVCHD. However, two out of three new models Sony’s looking to introduce can now handle the AVCHD format.

The DPF-XR100 and DPF-VR100 will both be able to tackle AVCHD, while also offering a 10.2 inch LED backlit LCD screen, stereo speakers, and an alarm clock. Further, the XR100 will offer Sony TruBlack, which improves resolution and cuts down on glare.

The more affordable DPF-D83, meanwhile, will not handle AVCHD but will offer a built-in rechargeable battery for the first time ever. All three will offer two gigs of onboard memory.

You’ll be able to get these this November, and the DPF-VR100 will sell at $200, the DPF-XR100 will sell at $250, and the DPF-D83 will run you $150.

The Green-House GHV-DF7D offers a maximum resolution of 800×480 pixels with a contrast ratio of 500:1 and a brightness level of 200cd/m2.

Like most digital picture frames, the GHV-DF7D supports most media file formats such as JPEG, MP3, WMA and MPEG.

It comes with a memory card slot as well just in case you want other sources or perhaps additional storage for your picture and video files.

Aside from the mentioned features, the Green-House GHV-DF7D digital picture frame also comes with a built-in stereo speakers, and calendar and clock functions.

The available colors for the Green-House GHV-DF7D digital picture frame include black, white, green, blue and brown. They retail for about 11,000 YEN or approximately ($128).

These new digital picture frames should be a great gift or device to have in your home but sadly it seems they are only available in Japan for now.

The Kodak EasyShare D1026 digital photo frame features a 10.4″ display that is capable of displaying images via 4:3 aspect ratio (800×600) using JPEG and EXIF formats.

The Kodak EasyShare D1026 digital picture frame also comes with 512MB of internal memory, a memory expansion slot (SDHC/MMC/SD/XP-Picture/memory stick/USB flash drive) which should offer potential buyers a lot of sourcing options when it comes to the images to be placed on display.

The details on the 10 inch Kodak Pulse frame are coming courtesy of the FCC, which really means we are still going to need some more information, such as the two of the more important details — price and release date.

That said, what we have learned from the listing includes that the Kodak Pulse will come with a 10 inch display and carry the model number of W1030. And in addition to the larger display size, we have also found that the Pulse W1030 will have Wi-Fi support in the form of 802.11 b/g as well as a USB port and memory card slot. The memory card support will come in with SD, SDHC, MMC, MS, MS Pro, MS Pro Duo and XD-Picture Card. In other words, lots of support, and for those with a spare microSD card laying around, there are always microSD to SD card adapters available on the cheap.

And like I mentioned earlier in the post, the price we do not yet know. As for the when it will be released. Again, nothing firm, however the FCC listing did show a 45 day confidentiality request which could lead one to believe the Pulse W1030 will be available in time for the 2010 holiday shopping season.

Otherwise, some likely features will also be internal storage (which on the current 7 inch model is 512MB) as well as image support in the form of JPEG and EXIF. And speaking as a digital photo frame owner, this was the one item that I could have cared less about getting, but have come to love having it around. Of course, that statement comes in part due to the Wi-Fi connectivity and support for Picasa. And for those wondering, I have a 7 inch Pandigital frame.

First and foremost, the Onkyo LPF10M01 is a 10.1 inch picture frame. The display has a resolution of 1024 x 600, a 500:1 contrast ratio and is LED backlit in nature — think netbook. Plus the frame comes touting a 140 degree horizontal viewing angle and 110 degree vertical viewing angle.

So far its looking fairly interesting, a decent size display, and as you can see from the above image, the frame itself is sporting a nice clean design and is available in two colors — black and white. Oh, and there is also the remote control, which from personal experience is fairly standard fare with digital picture frames.

Other features include 512MB of internal memory, a USB port and memory card support for SD, SDHC and Memory Stick cards.

Oh and, there is also the HDMI input. Yes, HDMI input which would allow the frame to not only be used as a frame to display images from the internal memory or external storage options — but it can also be used as a secondary display. Granted its a small secondary display. But sitting alongside your primary monitor it would be a decent size for something along the lines of your email client, Twitter app or something along those lines.

Sadly though, at least for now this one is heading only to Japan. Though for around $225 I would be glad to make this purchase. Of course, I am already a fan of digital picture frames so there is little convincing needed in that respect.

Anyone who’s ever had a monitor die on them mid-project knows how intensely valuable having a backup monitor on hand can be, and the Win Accord DF10411-13 can serve that purpose nicely. Admittedly, you wouldn’t want to use a 10-inch monitor any longer than you had to, but if you need something to get you through a day’s work before you can get to the nearest office supply store with your checkbook in hand, this should do the job pretty well.

And, of course, being a digital photo frame means it’ll handle all your picture needs as well, which is another feather in this frame’s cap. Further, it’ll also tackle your SD cards, MMC cards, Memory Stick and USB drive needs.

Here’s the bad news, though–no clue when this will be available (at last report it was still awaiting FCC approval) or how much it will cost when it gets here. Still, for a digital photo frame that can become an emergency monitor at a drop of a hat thanks to onboard software support, you can’t do much better than the Win Accord DF10411-13.

The Aipted 3D Photo Frame features a 7″ parallax LCD display which do not require glasses to be appreciated. The 3D photo frame should be a great partner with your Aiptek 3D camcorder, allowing you to display those captured photos or videos.

The type of photos and videos you can display is not limited to the Aiptek 3D camcorder. You can also display 3D media files from other 3D devices giving you the flexibility of choosing the 3D gadget/s of your choice.

The Aiptek Portable 3D Photo and Video Display should be a good buy and will be officially released starting August.

These Disney photo frames feature support for playback of popular audio and video, comes with an FM radio and onboard speakers that deliver 1 watt per channel. These new digital photo frames stand to be the perfect addition and gift for all ages, though they seem to be more fitting for the young people who love Walt Disney characters.

The new Disney digital photo frames are set to be released next month in July for about 8480 YEN or about $90 a pop. Not a bad price for a digital photo frame that should be a hit with any child or child at heart. There is no word of an international release though.

To begin with, lets touch on that 3G part. The Photo Mail frame comes with built-in access to the AT&T 3G network which will allow you to upload images from just about anywhere you may be by way of a dedicated email address that comes with the frame.

As for paying for that access, that comes in the form of image packs, which will set you back $9.99 for 100, $29.99 for 400 or $49.99 for 700. That said, you do get 300 images for free just with the purchase of the frame. On the other hand, the frame itself is selling for $179.99.

Personally, it would have been nice had this been something along the lines that we saw with the free access that comes with ebook readers such as the Kindle and Nook, but all things considered, the pricing for uploads is not all that crazy. If nothing else this could make a nice gift for that less than tech friendly person in your family. It would allow them to have a digital photo frame that you could keep stocked with fresh images from afar.

Moving on though, other features of the Pandigital Photo Mail frame include an 8 inch 800 x 600 resolution display with a 4:3 aspect ratio, 6 in 1 memory card reader and 1GB of internal storage that when used with Pandigital’s memory optimization mode can store up to 6,400 images. Additionally, there is also an option to add Wi-Fi by way of an external wireless adapter.

Finally, the frame itself is real wood with photo matting and a glass screen cover.

Home Electronics giant Sherwood showed off the iNet 2.0, a powerful new iPhone dock that is filled with new features. The most noticeable thing about the iNet 2.0 is it’s big 8-inch touchscreen display. As an iPod/iPhone dock, it can play music off of your device with a bigger set of speakers, but the features don’t stop there.

The iNet 2.0 can be connected to the internet via an Ethernet port on the back, or WiFi. Once connected, the iNet 2.0 can stream music from internet radio stations, and Audio-On-Demand is even available from Rhapsody and Napster, letting you choose songs and play them back at your own pace.

As for the other features, it can act as an Alarm Clock or a Digital Photo Frame. It contains 1GB of on-board storage that can be complemented by SD cards or USB thumb drives. For audio nerds, the iNet’s speakers are driven by a 20-watt amp. Unfortunately for those interested, Sherwood didn’t give any pricing or release dates yet.

Catalog company Hammacher Schlemmer is offering “The Picture Scanning Digital Photo Frame”, a small digital photo frame that as a vending machine style slot that will scan your pictures and automatically add them right to the internal memory of the Digital Photo Frame. As for the photo frame itself, it features a 8-inch LCD display.

Hammacher Schlemmer’s website promises that the slot-loading scanner is “as [easy] as feeding bills into a vending machine.” The scanner itself scans at 300-dpi and transforms the pictures into .JPG format. The photo frame has internal storage of 1GB.

Like most digital photo frames these days, it can double as a stationary PMP as it can also play MPEGs and MP3s. Other features like a Calendar and Alarm Clock are also thrown in. Data can be transfered to the frame via a SD card slot, USB thumb drive, or even directly from computer to frame via a USB transfer cable (compatible with Windows XP and later, as well as Mac OS X). For interested parties, the “Picture Scanning Digital Photo Frame” is now shipping and will set you back $200.

Tired of seeing all those off-brand common digital frames magically flocking stores with their poor quality displays just in time for Christmas, you should know that today, giant electronics manufacturer Samsung has officially unveiled their new Samsung SPF-800P digital photo frame for the Korean market

Meant for those who’d much rather trade affordability for quality, Samsung’s SPF-800P digital frame features a 8-inch LED-backlit 800×480 pixel display, has 2 GB of internal memory and adds a microSD card slot in case you’re shooting at the highest possible resolution on your DSLR camera.

On top of that, it brings Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity to synchronize directly with your laptop or mobile phone, supports both video and music playback and ships with Samsung’s easy-to-use second generation user interface and a remote controller.

The new Samsung SPF-800P digital photo frame is available for purchases right now with a price a tag of 199,000 KRW (which is some $170 at today’s rate). No word if the SPF-800P will make it west in US, Europe or any other places outside Korea, anytime soon.

Epson has launched a new compact photo printer, the PictureMate Show PM 300. Wait a second there! It’s a digital photo frame too. Now I’m confused. Do I want a photo printer or a digital picture frame? Do I really need both?

Printing your favorite pictures from the convenience of your own home does sound interesting, especially with the holidays closing in fast. But a digital picture frame that also has attached to it a printer wouldn’t look so good on your bedside table or in the living room, would it?

The device is going to be available for $299.99 so let’s take a look at it before hurrying to purchase it, shall we?

The PictureMate Show PM300 comes with 270MB of integrated memory space but as you have just seen above, the device is able to deal with most storage solutions available out there. A Bluetooth adapter would let you connect your smartphone or PDA straight to the printer / photo frame so as you can see you can send your pictures from virtually and smart device to the device.

And if the picture frame isn’t the most esthetically pleasant frame available out there, you could simply buy regular photo frames and use the new Epson printer to print new photos for them every day.

Panasonic announced a new digital photo frame that also doubles as an iPod dock and audio system. It could also be an audio system that doubles as a photo frame and has iPod docking capabilities. Or is it an iPod dock that can offer you audio system features and conveniently display your favorite pictures?

The official press release says that the MW-10 is Panasonic’s “first audio system with iPod dock and photo frame.” But then again you can call it whatever you want. As you can see, the MW-10 is a versatile device that comes with a lot of features. Whether you want it to simply display pictures or handle your multimedia needs, the MW-10 will comply. On top of that it can connect to your iPods at any time acting as the designated dock when no other dock is available.

The MW-10 takes multimedia seriously. It offers a built-in CD player, FM/AM radio tuner with 45-station preset memory while the low-density bamboo speaker will deliver “pure sound and crisp dialogue.” Music and videos can also be played straight from the iPod and the remote control will come in handy.

The MW-10 comes with a 9-inch WVGA LCD which can be used to either display pictures or watch some quick homemade videos. The MW-10 can deal with pictures from CD, SD memory card or from its 4GB internal memory. The photo frame can display either a full-screen photo slideshow or a combination of: clock and iPod track menu, calendar and photos, clock and photos, and audio and calendar.

As I said before, the MW-10 is a gadget that can deal with a lot of our needs and it can definitely stand out among digital photo frames with extra features. Panasonic will make the MW-10 available only next month, but just in time for Christmas. The device will retail for $299.95 which is a little too expensive but then again this isn’t an ordinary frame.

Made by Isabella Products, the Vizit photo frame is a cellular-connected two way device that will let you connect with friends and family over AT&T’s wireless network.

The Vizit will let you send and receive digital photos over the air and it basically resembles MMS messaging. In order for the whole two-way feature to work not only do you need a Vizit digiframe at home but your friends and family will also need to buy one.

The frame offers a more than generous 10.4-inch touchscreen LCD, GSM/GPRS connectivity, an intuitive touchscreen user interface and support for MMS, email and Internet sharing sites.

Before you get all too excited about it you’ll have to know that the Vizit will sell for $279.99 at some point early next year. On top of the already huge price you’ll have to pay a monthly fee to AT&T in order to take advantage of the two-way photo sharing features. Then you’ll have to convince your friends and/or family to buy a similar device in order for you to actually be able to send and receive photos. Does that sound like something you really want to do?

The alternative is pretty simple. You can get a cheaper digital photo frame which you can connect to your computer. And you can use your computer to do all the picture sharing you desire with your friends and family.

The frame also comes with a VizitMe.com account which will let you do some remote photo management and support for eCommerce sites is on the way. The photo frame could be used in the future for buying stuff online. You know, there’s a device for that already, a computer, which can do all the things I mentioned above. But enough about me! What would you say? Is the Vizit worth buying?

I’ll admit from the start that digital photo frames aren’t included in my favorite gadgets list. And I’m particularly annoyed with digital photo frames that pitch other features to us. Maybe it’s just me but I don’t want my digital photo frame to double as a TV, wireless printer or a phone. I’d want it to do one simple thing: show me slideshows and pictures starring the ones I love.

Today we have a brand new digiframe to look at, the Sony S-Frame DPP-F700. As you expect, this device isn’t a simple digital photo frame as it also has a printer personality. But let’s take each personality at a time, shall we?

The digital photo frame offers you a 7-inch LCD display capable of WVGA (800 x 400) resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio. The frame comes with 1GB of internal memory which can store up to 2,000 pictures. In case you need larger slideshows then the digiframe will let you use most of the memory cards available out there. It can also connect to your PC via USB in case you don’t have any flash cards near you but it doesn’t have any Wi-Fi support.

The printer can offer you 4 x 6-inch professional quality 300 x 300 dpi photos. You can edit the pictures you’re about to print as it offers features like enlarge, reduce, crop or date stamp. You can even modify the brightness, contrast, hue and sharpness straight from the device although I recommend editing your photos on your computer using professional software before printing. One interesting feature of the printer is the Creative Print mode which lets you print calendars with pictures, ID photos and layout prints with more than one picture on a sheet of paper.

As you can see the device comes with a paper tray which doesn’t contribute very much to the general appearance of the S-Frame digital picture frame. But with Christmas approaching fast, this photo frame with printer capabilities might prove to be a nice gift for some of your closest friends. Unfortunately for you, the S-Frame DPP-F700 will only be available in January 2010 and it will retail for around $200 so you’ll have to look for other gift ideas.

We’ve often talked about how digital photo frames are evolving to encompass ancillary functionality and now along comes the D-Link Xtreme N DIR-685, which serves as both a 3.2” digiframe and a 802.11 router in what is, I’m sure you’d agree, once of the most curious amalgamations yet.

Billed as being ‘the industry’s first all-in-one home network router that combines powerful 802.11n Wi-Fi connectivity with network attached storage (NAS), USB device-sharing, digital photo frame, Internet content player, FTP server and Green technology in a sleek, compact desktop design’ the D-Link Xtreme N DIR-685 is a decidedly curious device in that, whilst you’d expect its digiframe functionality to be rather limited (as if it were merely an after thought) its capabilities in actuality offer more than just serving as a digital slideshow. Of course, it’ll happily do that, but it’ll also stream video and offer up weather forecasts whilst, thanks to its NAS capabilities it’ll also handle BitTorrent downloads with data being stored on an internally mounted 2.5” SATA HDD (available up to 1TB capacity).

Add into this two USB posts touting D-Link’s unique SharePort technology which ‘allow multiple users to wirelessly share USB devices such as multi-function printers (MFP), scanners and external hard drives from virtually anywhere in the home or office’ and an onboard WiFi scheduler – allowing you to turn off WiFi connectivity in order to save on energy consumption when connectivity isn’t required (say, when you’re sleeping) – and what you have is, by anyone’s definition, and enormously capable, single solution device that covers rather more functionalities then once could possible ever envisage.

“This router is the ideal solution for power consumers who want the ultimate ‘all-in-one’ networking device,” says Daniel Kelley, senior director of marketing for D-Link Systems in Fountain Valley, Calif. “Not only does it offer full functionality as a router/NAS storage/print server/FTP device, it is attractive on any desktop, environmentally friendly and Internet secure.”

When we come across killer deals here at TFTS we feel obliged to offer you a heads up and, to that end, if you’re in the market for a digital photo frame you may be interested in the 7” Sony DPF-D70 digiframe that’s seen its price dropped by a not inconsiderable 30% on Amazon today.

Admittedly, if you’re looking ‘for an all singin’ all dancing’ digital photo frame then the Sony DPF-D70 probably isn’t of particular interest as you can forget audio and video file format support, net access, weather station capabilities, et al, but if your’re up for a killer deal on a digiframe that’s happy merely to excel in this particular functionality alone, and you don’t mind a little Sony branding (who does?) then the Sony DPF-D70 could be of interest and, at its new pricing, it’s a steal.

The 7” Sony DPF-D70 Digital Photo Frame, which was up for just shy of $100, is now available from Amazon for a knock down price coming in at just shy of $70 (a good early deal on a Christmas gift, perhaps?).

Having posted a couple of days ago about the Sony DPP-F700 Digital Photo Frame, which comes with integrated color printer allowing you to gain hardcopies of your photos, we now have this Exemode Yashica DVF828 digital photo frame that comes complete with onboard scanner allowing you to add images to the frame’s memory directly from hardcopies.

The Exemode Yashica DVF828 digital photo frame, aside from being capable of scanning items such as photos, newspaper clippings and the like (to a maximum size of 100 x 150mm at 150/300 DPI quality), sports an 8” 800 x 600 resolution display, comes with 1GB of internal storage capacity, which can be supplemented with memory cards (specifically SD, SDHC, MMC, CF and Memory Stick cards) as well as USB flash drives, and, unlike the aforementioned Sony digiframe, it’ll also happily play ball video files such as MPEG-1/4/Motion JPEGs as well as audio files (MP3) with a built-in stereo speakers rated at 1W apiece taking care of sound output.

Unfortunately, there’s no WiFi connectivity, however, so, unlike many digital frames out there, if you’re looking for direct net access (and access to portals such as YouTube and Flickr) you’ll need to look elsewhere.

The Exemode Yashica DVF828 digital photo frame with integrated scanner is set to hit Japan from October 24^th and will retails for around ¥24,800 (which equates to roughly $277 as at the time of writing).

All we need now is a digiframe with integrated printer and scanner, WiFi connectivity that also happens to serve as a weather station and we’d have just about all the (current) bases covered.

In an age where digital photo frames are increasingly offering expanded capabilities way outside their original remit such as net access and PMP capabilities Sony have recently unveiled a digital frame, known as the Sony DPP-F700, that won’t just serve to showcase your digital imagery (oh no, that’s just so yesterday) but, thanks to an integrated Dye-Sublimation printer, will allow you to gain color hardcopies to keep, savour or just pass on to others-  to perhaps press home that, yes, your holiday way outclassed theirs or your kid is cuter than theirs or, just perhaps to prove you’re your digiframe is…well, you get the picture.

Aside from its integrated printer, which produces 4” x 6” 300 x 300dpi color prints – that, thanks to the use TruFast technology are smudge, fingerprint and, apparently, water resistant – the Sony DPP-F700 digital photo frame comes with a 7” 16:10 aspect ratio 800 x 480 (WVGA) resolution TFT display complete with a host of 21 differing templates for time/date display and auto orientation whilst, in terms of storage capacity there’s a pretty healthy 1GB onboard which should see you good for storing around 2,000 images (which should see the holiday snaps pretty much covered with room for a few of Tiddles the Wondercat thrown in for good measure). Of course if you find yourself pressed for space the integrated memory card reader allows for additional ‘bolt-on’ capacity should you need it with Memory Stick Duo/PRO/PRO Duo, SD  cards all being catered for (amongst others) with an optional adapter serving to allow the use of yet more formats covering just about every one going.

The Sony DPP-F700 photo frame with integrated photo printer – which does not serve as a multimedia frame, incidentally, just in case you were wondering (isn’t an inbuilt printer enough?) – is set to release sometime in mid-November and, whilst Sony are remaining wholly tight-lipped concerning unit pricing, consensus has it that you’ll be looking at splashing out around $300 if you want to bag one.

I’ve seen my share of multi-function gadgets over the years and I can honestly say that the majority of them have been pretty useless. So when I came across the Weather Alarm Clock Photo Triple Frame from ExpertVerdict.com I nearly did a double take. Not only is this thing a digital photo frame, it combines a mini weather station and alarm clock in the same unit? You owe it to yourself to at least take a look at this one.

The Weather Alarm Clock Photo Triple Frame’s name says it all. This nifty little combination unit has a weather station, clock and photo frame all wrapped up in a slim silver package. It’s devices like this that offer up usefulness and the ability to save us some much-needed space on our nightstands and desks that are worth a deeper look. The clock has an alarm and reports the indoor temperature and humidity while the mini weather station tells you what it’s like outside using easy-to-read weather icons and a colorful temperature trend indicator.

Slowly, but very surly, we have watched the digital picture frame evolve into a multimedia power house that as well as displaying image slideshows offer multimedia support and wireless net access and now HP are pushing the functionality envelope further with their newly unveiled HP DreamScreen 100 and DreamScreen 130 digital frames.

Whilst offering all the features you’d expect from a digiframe, the new HP DreamScreen digital frames additionally bring both multimedia and wireless internet connectivity to the table to such a degree that one must question whether they have actually stepped aside from the ‘digiframe’ category of devices entirely and become, somewhat more so, digital entertainment hubs offering hassle free access to social media sites and online digital image portals whilst also offering broad audio and video support with the additional bonus of integrated connectivity to online portals such Pandora allowing for audio streaming with the DreamScreen’s integrated stereo speakers meaning that the device is wholly self contained.

Taking about media, the HP DreamScreens offer pretty reasonable file format support taking in MPEG 1, 2, 4, H.264 video, MP3, WMA, AAC, WAV audio and JPEG, PNG, BMP image file formats though we would, were we to be especially picky, like to have seen FLAC, OGG and RAW file formats also accommodated. Inbuilt DivX support would also have been nice.

HP’s new DreamScreens, which naturally also serve as alarm clocks, are priced at around $250 and $300 (10.2″ DreamScreen 100 and 13.3″ DreamScreen 130 respectively) and appear to be available now from Amazon.

Digital photo frames should really do only a couple of things and do them well, right? They should display your digital images in a decent resolution and give you some pretty easy options when it comes to how you can transfer your images (or even videos, for that matter) from your computer to the frame. They really don’t need to be radios or iPod docks or blenders or whatever else it is that product managers seem to think that people want along with their pictures on their desks or walls. The latest introduction from Pandigital seems to have hit the mark with their PanTouch Clear digital photo frames and they look good doing it.

US-based Pandigital has just announced the European launch of its PanTouch Clear line of digital photo frames. The range features 8-in and 10.4-in models and ups the design ante by offering a rather unique “floating” flair to the image display. The main LCD is mounted in the center of a clear glass pane as to appear to be floating in the center of the frame. Measuring a third of an inch thick (touted as the thinnest digital photo frames on the market) the frames are perfectly suited for both desktop and wall display.

Both frames feature an 800 x 600 resolution and 4:3 display ratio and offer the PanTouch integrated touchscreen control technology from which Pandigital has made a name for itself over the last several years. The interface allows the user to actively control the images within the frame by touching the front of the screen. You can also connect both models directly to your computer with the included USB cable.

Additional features include wi-fi and Bluetooth connectivity, programmable on/off times, and a clock and calendar function. You can also use the frames to play video and MP3 files along with your images.

The 8-inch model (PAN8000DWPCF1) sports 1GB of built-in storage and a six-in-one card reader and retails for 109GBP while the 10-in model (PAN1002DWPCF1) offers 2GB of storage and a five-in-one card reader and retails for 149GBP. Toshiba announced on Monday that it has teamed up with FrameChannel, a web-based digital photo frame integration service, to bring weather, news and sports info, as well as uploaded photos to its new line of Digital Media Frames. Plans are to offer both an 8-in and 10-in model. Users will upload their videos and pics to the FrameChannel servers and then view them on their wireless frame.

Using FrameChannel, users can also link to photos uploaded to other hosting sites such as Photobucket, Flickr, and Facebook. FrameChannel also produces more than 1,000 free channels across 19 different categories, some of which can be shown on the frames’ home screens to give constant and real-time updates to content.

The frames have an integrated position senor that automatically adjusts the screen to either landscape or portrait depending upon the layout of the pictures. Navigating home screens is done using touch-sensitive controls that illuminate when operated. The user also has the ability to select which featured content is displayed on the home screen and has access to both a calendar and a clock.

The 8-inch Toshiba DMF82X will be available in black and white with a MSRP of $180. The 10-inch Toshiba DMF102X will be available in black only for $230. Toshiba plans to begin shipping both models in August.

JOBO have just announced two new digital picture frames that are designed specifically for increasingly budget aware consumers in the form of its JOBO Curve 7 and JOBO Curve 8 digiframes which offer somewhat rudimentary features in turn for wallet friendly pricing.

The JOBO Curve 7 and Curve 8 digital frames offer 7″ 480 x 234 resolution and 8″ 800 x 600 resolution TFT LCD displays respectively and, as stated above, offer basic feature sets that consist of delete, zoom and rotate as well being capable of displaying imagery in landscape and portrait mode and, apart from sporting SD/MMC memory card slots, additionally offer USB (specifically USB OTG) connectivity, allowing you to view images directly from compatible USB devices such as USB flash drives, digital cameras and external hard disks.

Kodak have just release the latest digiframe in their EasyShare series in the form of the Kodak EasyShare S730 which is, it has to be said, a fairly rudimentary multimedia digital frame in offering a 7″ 800 x 480 resolution 15:9 aspect ratio aSi TFT active matrix display offering 500:1 contrast ratio and 300 NITs brightness.

The Kodak EasyShare S730, apart from offering JPEG file format compatibility, also offers up compatibility with MP3, PCM, ADPCM, MPEG audio and MOV, AVI, MPEG, MPEG4 video formats and comes with 6-in-1 card reader as well as 1GB of integrated storage capacity.

We’ve seen digital photo frames (or digiframes if you will) increasing embrace extended functionality – now serving as weather stations, DAPs, etc – and now Oregon Scientific have acted to turn the tables somewhat in introducing digital photo frame technology to telephones in the form of the Oregon Scientific Photo-Touch Phone.

The Oregon Scientific Photo-Touch Phone, apart from offering all the convenience offered by a cordless phone boasting DECT 6.0 technology, comes with a 7″ LCD TFT display with which you can display your favourite digital images to liven things up a little or, perhaps, to serve to remind you of who you’re talking to actually looks like.

SilverPac have unveiled their new advanced digital picture frame known as the SilverPac SilverFrame at Computex 09 which, apart from sporting a 10″ 1024 x 567 resolution touchscreen display manages to pack in wireless connectivity (WiFi Draft N) as well as full support of Windows Slideshow and Windows Live FrameIt allowing the display of online multimedia content as well as offering ‘traditional’ digiframe functionality.

The sheer scope of capabilities and functionality offered by the 10″ touchscreen SilverPac SilverFrame advanced digital frame is impressive with the device able to play (and wirelessly stream) videos, digital audio, pull RSS feeds and display email 9which can be replied to on-screen) and, naturally, as you’d expect from a WiFi multimedia device it’ll happily play ball with the likes of Facebook, Picasa, Photobucket, et al.

Powered by a Freescale processor complete with 512MB RAM and offering up an additional 1GB of storage capacity, the SilverPac SilverFrame, which runs Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R2, is currently being presented to various companies who, SilverPac hope, will pick it up and run with the design so at this stage there’s no pricing information or date of expected availability – but there’s no doubt that many, including ourselves, will be eagerly anticipating further news and hoping that a suitably large brand puts their weight behind it.

It’s been a while since we’ve featured a digital photo frame here on TFTS but we couldn’t possibly pass up on featuring this new digiframe from Samsung, namely the Samsung SPF-87H Touch of Color Digital Photo Frame, which not only sports a particularly sleek design but, thanks to USB connectivity, can be utilised as a supplementary/secondary PC monitor.

Measuring in at just 23mm (091″), the newly announced Samsung SPF-87H Touch of Color Digital Photo Frame, apart from offering PC connectivity, comes with 1GB of onboard storage capacity – enough to store up to 3,000 photos – an 8″ 800 x 180 resolution widescreen display with 500:1 contrast ratio and integrated SD card reader and is rolling out as of now for a very reasonable $129.

Back at the beginning of March we featured the new O2 Joggler touchscreen internet tablet (or ‘All-in-One Family Wireless Multimedia Hub’ as we referred to it) and now, not to be outdone, Orange is hitting back with their newly announced Orange Tabbee Wi-Fi Internet Tablet which, like the aforementioned Joggler, comes with 7″ touchscreen display, Wi-Fi connectivity and broad multimedia support.

The Orange Tabbee, unlike the Joggler, is not restricted to desk usage in serving as a true tablet device complete with docking cradle – which also serves to charge the device – and as well as offering internet access to allow for basic browsing or access to news, weather, traffic, stocks, etc information (no word as to whether it supports RSS feeds – we assume it does) whilst also offering broad multimedia support allowing the device to show videos, play digital audio and even act in the capacity of a digital photo frame (loading media from SD memory cards or via USB flash drives thanks to its built-in SD and USB slots).

On and above the capabilities outlined above, the Orange Tabbee is also billed as offering a number of family friendly features such as message board functionality which will serve rather nicely as a sort of digital post-it note (especially handy to remind the cat to feed the husband whilst you’re out).

The Orange Tablee is set to become available to Orange customers in France in Q2 of this year for around 300 Euros (roughly $402) though, at the time of writing, Orange are yet to confirm any specific release details with respect to the UK market.

Japanese company Green House have added yet another digiframe to their product range, namely the Green House GHV-DF7C Multimedia Digital Photo Frame, which sports a 7″ 480 x 234 resolution display and which offers calendar and alarm clock functionality.

The Green House GHV-DF7C, which measures in at 230 x 30 x 164mm and which offers 300:1 contrast ratio with 250cd/m2 brightness, supports JPEG, BMP, MP3, WMA and M-JPEG (AVI) file formats, reads SD, SDHC and MS memory cards, comes with USB connectivity and is available in three colors (black, white and pink).

All in all a fairly rudimentary digital photo frame, the Green House GHV-DF7C is retailing for the equivalent of a not unreasonable $72.

If you’re looking to carry around the digital equivalent of a photo album, perhaps to bore family and friends senseless with holiday photos or Tiddles the Wondercat roller-skating (as also posted to YouTube, no doubt), this new digital photo album could be exactly what you’re looking for.

Coming with 4GB of integrated memory – enough to hold a whopping 40,000 images – this pocket friendly portable digital photo album sports a 7″ display offering an unspecified resolution. And, should the 40,000 image capacity offered by the device’s onboard memory not be enough for you (if you’re anything like my wife, this is a mere one’s day’s outing as opposed to a full holiday) then you can always supplement capacity with an SD card, thanks the digital album’s card reader, up to 20GB.

We’re not, rest assured, going to dwell on this monstrosity of a digital photo frame any longer than is necessary (not that this post is necessary, really) but we simply couldn’t pass up on featuring it if only because an entire week has past without us taking a pop at a product we loathe and established traditions really ought to be adhered to, if only for some sense of continuality.

Looking like the wedding cake your grandmother would have baked for your wedding if you hadn’t of skilfully out manoeuvred her by ordering one well in advance, we are somewhat surprised that this 7″ digital photo frame doesn’t actually come with its own net curtains though, in fairness, in being a decidedly plastic, tacky affair, perhaps Chinavasion came to the (rightful) conclusion that, really, they had pushed things up the darkened ally of insipid tackiness just about as far as even they dare go (and that’s quite far, by anyone’s standards).

Apparently ‘beautifully designed to impress and to show just how much you care’, though if anyone gave me this I’d come to an altogether differing conclusion, this 7″ 480×234 resolution multimedia ’7 Inch Decorative Digital Photo Frame’ offers MP3, WMA, MPEG, DIVX, XVID and AVI (as well as JPEG) file format support and comes with 128MB of integrated memory, 4-in-1 card reader, mini USB port and headphone jack and will set you back around 44GBP (with discounts being offered on bulk purchases).

Following on from the AgfaPhoto AF5135MS multimedia digital photo frame, Toshiba have this week announced two new digital photo frames of their own – namely the Journe Air 801 & Journe Air 1000 – which may not boast quite the ‘HD’ resolution of the aforementioned AF5135MS but which do offer something the AgfaPhoto digital photo frame doesn’t offer – namely integrated Wi-Fi connectivity.

Both of Toshiba’s Journe Air 801 and Journe Air 1000 Wi-Fi Digital Photo Frames are set to become available this month and will retail for around 170 GBP and 140 GBP respectively.

AgfaPhoto have introduced what they’re billing as the world’s first high definition digiframe in the form of the AgfaPhoto AF5135MS multimedia digital picture frame which comes with a generous or, rather ‘exceptionally large’ 13.3″ 1280 x 800 resolution display yet which measures in at a mere 2.2cm in thickness.

Coming with 256MB of integrated memory, the AgfaPhoto AF5135MS HD digiframe comes with USB port, allowing media to be read directly from USB flash memory cards, as well as an integrated card reader – supporting SD, MC, MS, SDHC, XD and CF formats – and as well as offing broad support from image file formats the AgfaPhoto AF5135MS also offers MP3 audio and MJPEG/MPEG4 video file format compatibility. Additionally it almost goes without saying that the AF5135MS will also happily serve as an alarm clock as well as a multimedia digiframe.

There’s no word from AgfaPhoto at this stage concerning the AF5135MS’s availability, however, the AgfaPhoto AF5135MS multimedia digital picture frame is expected to retail at around the 280 EUR price point (approx. $362 at the time of writing).

Pandigital have announced their new PanTouch Clear digital photo frame (specifically the Pandigital PAN1000DWPCF2) which, apart from being billed as being the world’s slimmest digiframe in measuring just a third of an inch in thickness, sports a 10.4″ 1024 x 78 resolution 4:3 ‘true photo aspect ratio’ LCD display as well as integrated Wi-Fi connectivity (as well as Bluetooth capabilities when used with an additional USB dongle).

Coming with 2GB of built-in storage capacity, which is sufficient to hold up to 4,000 images when used with the frame’s memory optimization mode, the Pandigital PanTouch Clear 10.4″ digital photo frame, thanks to its ultra slim design (and unlike the vast majority for digiframes), can be placed as a free standing digiframe or wall mounted – a definite plus as far as we’re concerned – and apart from touting a touchscreen UI also sports a 6-in-one card reader as well as the aforementioned USB port.

“Pandigital has differentiated its products by ensuring that the cutting-edge technology we use translates into meaningful improvements in simplified usability and enjoyment for our customers,” said Dean Finnegan, CEO and founder, Pandigital, who introduced the new PanTouch Clear digital photo frame. “The new 10.4-inch PanTouch Clear frame has a look that is unique and modern, yet fits beautifully into traditional home decor. According to Pandigital’s press release, the PanTouch Clear ‘comes supplied with a dark espresso wood frame, as well as white and charcoal interchangeable mats, and a white full-sized mat that covers the glass surrounding glass area to offer an option for customers who prefer a more traditional frame style’ and is set to ship in May for just shy of $230.

O2 have just announced the up and coming availability of their new Joggler touchscreen device which is billed as a ‘first-of-its-kind device which will transform the way families manage their busy lives’ though, in fairness, bears many similarities to the previously featured iRiver Wave-Home in serving as a multimedia, internet and communications hub that O2 describe as being designed to ‘keep the whole family connected’.

The O2 Joggler comes a with 7″ touchscreen and connects to your home broadband either via its Ethernet port or wirelessly and, apart from serving as a digital organiser capable of storing birthdays, appointments and important dates which you need to be reminded of (via text messages to your phone as well as via the units display) also offers calendar and alarm clock functionality, digital audio and video playback (either directly from the device or streamed via your home network) as well as serving as a digital photo frame, basic gaming device and, thanks to its internet connectivity, can also display weather, news and sport (via Sky News) and traffic information though there’s no indication as to whether it can display user defined RSS feeds.

Transcend’s PF810 8″ digital photo frame, which is set for release in Japan at the end of March, like so many digiframes these days, fully embraces the notion of convergence in offering true multimedia capabilities as well as an integrated FM radio and alarm clock functionality.

Offering an 8″ 4:3 aspect ratio 800 x 600 resolution TFT LCD display with touch sensitive UI housed within a frame sporting ‘a lustrous gloss-black finish with elegant inlaid rhinestones’ (glossy – cool, inlaid rhinestones – not so sure), the Transcend PF810 comes with a not too shabby 2GB of onboard memory which can, of course, be supplemented at will thanks to the PF810′s card reader, and, in terms of file format compatibility, it’ll happily play ball with MP3, WAV, and WMA audio files and Motion JPEG, MPEG1, MPEG4, AVI, MPG, MP4 and 3GP video formats as well as offering support for both JPEG and BMP image formats (as one would expect from a digiframe – though wider image format support would have been nice).

Coming with what Transcend refer to as ‘NaturaTone intelligent skin color processing and user-selectable color modes’ which ‘analyze the makeup of each image and enhances colors for a more natural, lifelike appearance’ (if it could make me look human I’d be impressed), the PF810 will sell in Japan for the equivalent of around a not unreasonable $203.
