T-Mobile Announces The "Reinvigorated Challenger Strategy" Which Details The 4G LTE Launch Plans
If you happen to be a T-Mobile customer waiting for 4G LTE speeds, it looks like you still have some waiting to do. Coming just this morning, T-Mobile has announced their “reinvigorated challenger strategy” which details their plans for 2012 and into 2013.

And sadly, the 4G LTE is not expected until 2013. Nicely done though, it appears as if a big focus is going to deal with “making amazing 4G services affordable.” Based on what was mentioned by the carrier;
“T-Mobile will invest in strategic initiatives to get the business back to growth. The most significant investment is a $4 billion network modernization and 4G evolution effort, which will improve existing voice and data coverage and pave the way for long term evolution (LTE) service in 2013.”
Otherwise, some of the other 2012 related bits include the following;
- An investment in attracting and retaining customers which includes aggressively pursuing the B2B market, ramping up advertising spending, and attracting new MVNO partners.
- A $4 billion investment over time into network modernization and LTE deployment. Over the next two years, this represents approximately $1.4 billion in incremental network investment.
More to the tune of what we think TFTS readers are looking for — how widespread the T-Mobile 4G LTE coverage will be at launch. It was noted that T-Mobile “expects to reach broad deployment of LTE, with service in the vast majority of the top 50 markets and 20 MHz service in 75 percent of the top 25 markets.”
And lastly, while this latest bit of T-Mobile news was focusing on what could be expected for the remainder of this year and into 2013 — it seems they also took a fair amount of time to focus on their current HSPA+ network mentioning how they currently “operate America’s Largest 4G Network delivering a fast and reliable 4G data experience with HSPA+.” For those wondering, the T-Mobile HSPA+ network currently covers “well over” 200 million people.
