Facebook Comes To Sony PlayStation Vita
The PlayStation Vita is not a tablet. But, it took another step closer towards being a tablet today. The powerful quad-core gaming handheld already had Twitter, Flickr and Netflix, and we told you about yesterday how it might be getting Hulu sometime soon. Now, to add to its functionality, Sony has unleashed another necessity of modern life to the Vita, that, of course, being Facebook.

Those who own the PlayStation Vita will now find the Facebook app in the PlayStation Store for free. The app takes up 12MB of memory, so you’ll have to keep that in mind, considering that the Vita stores everything on the proprietary memory cards from Sony.
So, is the Vita a tablet? It certainly has a big touchscreen and a faster processor than anything currently running on an iPad or Android tablet. And it has a web browser along with apps for some of the most popular services out there, including Twitter, Netflix and Facebook (with Hulu rumored to becoming).
But, the consensus seems to be that it isn’t a tablet. The web browser seems to be the same as on the PSP and PlayStation 3. It’s lacking support for Flash and HTML5 and seems to be mostly terrible. Sony hasn’t released an SDK kit to the public, so there aren’t any third-party apps developed by independent developers coming any time soon to the Vita.
Regardless of whatever you call it, it seems like a serious piece of hardware, and it’s gotten a bit more useful for folks with the addition of the Facebook app yesterday.
