BeoVision 12-65 From Bang & Olufsen Arrives In North America Starting In March

Huge New BeoVision Television Hits North American Markets In March, Does So Wielding Hefty Price Tag

It’s been a good long while since we got any Bang & Olufsen news, and for those of you out there who like a little European styling in their home theater, well, you’re about to get a big old shot of it right here in the Bang & Olufsen 12-65, coming to North American markets starting in just a few days.

The Bang & Olufsen BeoVision 12-65 is a 65 inch plasma television, offering up not only full HD, but also 3D as well. It’s got an integrated center speaker of unlisted wattage as well as a NeoPDP panel, which in turn boosts the performance on the 3D, making it look even better than previous versions. They’ll also throw in a couple of proprietary features like Bang & Olufsen’s own Automatic Color Management (this puts some extra life expectancy into the system by compensating for the age of the panel, continually adjusting the picture to make it look like it did when it rolled off the line) as well as the Automatic Picture Control system, which in turn adjusts brightness levels based on the light level in the room, thus cutting back glare effects as far as possible.

As is generally the case from pretty much anything with the Bang & Olufsen name on it, this will not be cheap. So sit down, brace yourself, and please don’t try to drink anything when I tell you that the display by itself is going to set you back fully $11,350. And if you’re laughing rather than choking right now, you’ll be able to upgrade that from there to include the “stage manager” package, which will also, at last report, throw in the BeoSystem 3. Adding that on will bump the price clear up to $19,749, or more than most entire new cars.

Still though, the Bang & Olufsen name has widely become regarded as quality stuff among the home theater enthusiast, though whether it’s sufficiently good to rate that kind of price tag is going to be something of a subjective point.

But what do you guys think here? Do you have better things to drop that kind of money on? Or do you think your home theater will only be improved by adding on that kind of equipment? No matter what you think, head on down to the comments section and let’s talk Bang & Olufsen!
