Android 4.0 ICS Update Begins Rolling Out For The Asus TF101 Transformer

We had known that Asus was planning to offer an update to Ice Cream Sandwich for the Transformer TF101 tablet, however it looks like a bit of good news has come available for anyone carrying the device. Yup, the update has begun to roll-out. Of course, with the good may still come some disappointing.

That being said, the update is live and has begun to roll-out to Transformer TF101 users as of today. The bad, the update will initially only be available for those in Taiwan. According to the details provided by Asus, the update has “started today in Taiwan” and for everyone else, your update will be arriving “soon after.”

With that, no other mention as to what soon after could mean in terms of when. Otherwise, the update is arriving as firmware 9.2.1.11, or more specifically — Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. And touching back on the time for the Transformer owners outside of Taiwan, based on what Asus has offered in the past as far as ideas of timeline — we suspect the update should be completely rolled-out for all that want to update by the end of March.

Aside from the TF101 Transformer tablet and the soon to be available dessert that is Ice Cream Sandwich, Asus also took the opportunity to do a little Mobile World Congress teasing. As far as that goes, Asus has promised that they “will announce several new innovations at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next week” going on to mention that they “take great pride in delivering on-going enhancements and support for products that are well into their life cycle.”

And lastly, as the TFTS readers most likely expect, you can rest assured in knowing that we will stay up to date on this roll-out and mention anything new once we learn of more regions getting the update.
