Samsung Galaxy S Lightray 4G Confirmed For MetroPCS
The phone formerly known as the Samsung Conquer 4G on Sprint will be coming to prepaid carrier MetroPCS. This was rumored last December, but has finally been confirmed by MetroPCS. It’ll be coming to retail branded as the “Samsung Galaxy S Lightray 4G”, which is a bit of a mouthful.

In addition to being based on the Samsung Conquer 4G, Android bloggers are predicting that the Lightray also shares some heritage with the Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G which is expected to come out next month on T-Mobile.
Specs on the phone are okay for a mid-level phone. It’ll have a 1GHz single-core processor, 3.5-inch display, 3.2MP camera, 1.3MP front-facing camera, and 4G LTE connectivity to MetroPCS’ 4G network. What version of Android it will end up running hasn’t been announced, but don’t expect it to ship running the latest version of Android 4.0 ICS or anything. Pricing for the phone hasn’t been announced either, but expect it to cost $300 on prepaid contract from MetroPCS.
The big announcement that MetroPCS made back in December was that they would begin selling their handsets on Amazon.com. As many of our readers know, Amazon Wireless often has some great deals on mobile phones, so if you may want to keep your eyes peeled for the Lightray 4G on Amazon and you may end up snagging it for even cheaper than MetroPCS is offering it on their website.
What do you think about this phone? Will this MetroPCS Android phone end up being your next phone, or will you skip this one?
