Microsoft Office For iPad Is Real, Is Currently Waiting The Approval Of Apple
Several months back we began hearing chatter about a Microsoft Office suite coming available for the iPad. And well, while the story seemed rather believable back then, nothing much came of it. Well, that is until now and once again we are hearing reports that an Office suite will be available for the iPad soon.

Of course, soon could mean many different things to many different people so we will say it like this. The folks over at The Daily managed to get what they are describing as a “brief hands-on with a working prototype.” But before we get into the details of the app itself, word is that Office for iPad has been submitted and is currently waiting on the approval of Apple.
Assuming that is accurate and assuming that there are not any issues that cause it to get rejected — then Office for iPad could be available soon. Needless to say, there is nothing in terms of a release date. Not to mention, nothing in terms of how much it will end up selling for.

That all being said, according to what has been written about the app thus far, it will support creation and editing of Word, Excel and PowerPoint files and so far, nothing was given as to if Microsoft will support any of the other Office apps. Additionally, The Daily report notes that;
“The app’s user interface is similar to the current OneNote app, but it has hints of Metro, the new design language that can be seen in Windows Phone and in the as-yet-released Windows 8 desktop operating system.”
And lastly, as to touch on the coming soon aspect. Yes, it has reportedly been submitted for approval. Perhaps a bit more telling though, it was also noted that the design team “has since wrapped up the project.” Now the question remains; Do we really need Office for the iPad?
