Electronic Arts Ends Mass Effect 3, Battlefield 3 Pre-Order Promotion
Just a few days ago, Electronic Arts kicked off a Mass Effect 3 pre-order promotion that offered a free copy of Battlefield 3 to those who pre-ordered the PC version of Mass Effect 3 through Origin. As far as pre-order bonuses go, this one pretty much takes the cake, and as you can probably imagine, a lot of people took advantage of this offer.

The problem, it seems, is that too many people took advantage of this offer, because Electronic Arts has pulled the plug on the promotion. It was originally supposed to last until March 5th – the day before Mass Effect 3′s North American release – but instead, Electronic Arts dropped the promotion after only two days, informing Twitter users last night that free copies of Battlefield 3 are no longer available.
If you managed to pre-order in this short period of time, there’s two things you should know. First, you’re incredibly smart for getting your pre-order in early. Second, you’re not going to get Battlefield 3 right away, as EA says that all of those who pre-ordered during this window will get a code for their free copy of Battlefield 3 through email sometime between now and March 8th. Since we’re talking about EA here, it’s probably safer to assume that you’ll be getting your Battlefield 3 code closer to March 8th than now.

So, we have a rather abrupt end to a promotion that was pretty damn cool. I can’t really say I’m surprised that Electronic Arts pulled the plug so early, because honestly, I thought the company was crazy for offering free copies of Battlefield 3 with pre-orders of a Mass Effect 3, which is easily one of the most anticipated games of 2012.
Did you manage to secure a free copy of Battlefield 3 before Electronic Arts killed off the promotion? Is there anyone out there who has received their Battlefield 3 code already? Head down to the comments section and let us know!
