Angry Birds: Space Hitting App Stores in March

Rovio to Launch New Angry Birds Title Soon, In the Mean Time the Regular Game Is Available on Facebook Too

Rovio’s Angry Birds franchise doesn’t need any more introductions. Whether you own a smartphone or not you surely heard, and probably played, at least a few levels of Angry Birds by now. And if you did, then you understand why the game is a huge success. Rovio first launched Angry Birds in iOS format and then created two special spinoffs, Angry Birds Seasons and Angry Birds Rio. At the same time the, Angry Birds available on other platforms including Android, webOS, Symbian and Windows Phone.

After millions of downloads and after millions of dollars the company made of this addictive puzzle game, Angry Birds was launched in the Chrome store and on Facebook. The game will even be available on Windows 8 tablets later this year. In the mean time all the Angry Birds versions continue to get updated regularly with more and more levels, so the question is, what’s next for the company? Well, it looks like Rovio will not move to a different game yet, as it has plenty of Angry Birds action left.

The company will launch a new standalone Angry Birds next month, Angry Birds: Space. The game, which is going to be released on March 22, will probably challenge us to squash egg-stealing pigs in space, where gravity acts differently and therefore we’d get a whole new set of physics rules to try to bend in our favor. Unfortunately I’m only speculating about the future gameplay, as the teaser video below is not revealing any details about the new game.

Pricing details have not been mentioned yet, and we have no idea what platforms are going to get the new game first, although iOS and Android will surely be among the first ones to offer the new title.

Now, if you already mastered the game on your mobile device of choice, you’ll be happy to hear that Angry Birds is available on Facebook, as I mentioned earlier. Facebook is the last platform that Rovio attacked, and Facebook users will surely love to challenge friends by playing the game inside Facebook. The Facebook version can be played free of charge and offers users access to various social features as well as some exclusive levels. Naturally, in-app purchases are available, starting at $1 for using 20 power ups, after all, Rovio still wants to make money off this popular franchise.

Anyone excited about the new Angry Birds: Space game?
