Philips Shows Off Spring Television Lineup
I spent a whole lot of years watching a Philips television. Back before my recent upgrade, it was a testament to the sheer staying power of Philips hardware, that it successfully followed me through multiple game consoles and home theater components. And now, hearing about the spring line of televisions coming out from Philips, it seems they’re in good hands. Fully five different models of television will be coming out from Philips, and the lineup is heavy on the smart TV systems.

First off, there’s the Philips 7000 series, set to be the top of the line for this round of offerings. You’ll be able to pick these up in your choice of 40, 46, and 55 inch screens, and there will be fully 20 watts of speaker power as well as active shutter 3D. Not only will the 7000 be able to convert 2D to 3D, but it will also allow for full-screen two-player gaming without cheating by only showing one perspective to each player. It also offers the Ambilight mood lighting system, as well as streaming capability, five HDMI ports, three USB ports, and both wi-fi and Ethernet connectivity. There’s even DLNA streaming, and support for USB keyboards and mice.
Next up, there’s the Philips 6000 series, coming your way in 32, 37, 42, 47, or 55 inch displays, offering up full HD, passive 3D (no need for batteries and the like), a pair of 12 watt speakers, smart TV support with a variety of streaming options and four HDMI inputs.
The Philips 4000 series steps in next, offering your choice of 32, 37, 42, and 47 inch screens, offering up full HD (no 3D on this set), as well as the smart TV systems, support for keyboard and mouse as well as DLNA, and a better set of connections for those with older equipment including four HDMI inputs, three USB ports, wi-fi support and an AV input.

The Philips 3500 series goes for the lower end of the smart TV lineup, offering screens starting at 19 inches and working their way up to 42. You’ll have your choice of resolutions here, from 720p to 1080p, and of course you’ll get the streaming options, as well as three HDMI ports, two USB ports, and a USB wi-fi adapter that you’ll have to buy separately if you want to get wi-fi in on this one.
And if you living in a place where good internet isn’t yet available, fear not, because Philips is also set to offer the 3000 series, available in 32, 37, 42, and 47 inch sizes with three HDMI inputs, one USB port, and an unusual 100 Hz refresh rate.
Philips isn’t talking prices on any of these as yet, though you’ll start seeing them hit shelves somewhere in the April-June corridor. I admit to being rather impressed by this set, with a full range of options depending on your needs and interests, though I’d be happier to have a better idea on pricing.
