Lensbaby Edge 80 Lens Add-On Puts Extra Tilt In Your Photography

Lensbaby's Edge 80 Provides Extreme Degree Of Control To Your Shots In One Small Speciality Tool

Our friends out at the Max Borges Agency dropped a tip our way about a new slice of digital photography joy for those of you out there who like to add impressive new effects to your camera. It’s called the Lensbaby Edge 80, and it’s going to allow you to tighten–and soften–focus in the same shot.

The Lensbaby Edge 80 is an 80mm focal length model that can incorporate itself in the Lensbaby Composer Pro (as well as the Composer), the Scout, the Muse, and the Control Freak lens bodies to yield “a selective slice of sharp focus”. It’s got a 12-blade internal aperture which can provide a variety of effects to add a note of distinct uniqueness to your shots. It’s also packing five multi-coated glass elements, and a front-mounted dial to adjust the aperture and, thus, the effect. You’ll be able to shoot close ups of fully 17 inches, and Lensbaby even offers a simulator out at its website to show you just what having an Edge 80 mounted on one of your Lensbaby lenses can do in the first place.

The Edge 80 will set you back fully $300, and the lowest price lens body it will work with, the Muse, will set you back another $150 on top of it, so it’s likely not going to be one for the casual photographer. Still though, for someone who wants some serious levels of control over what their camera is shooting, and doesn’t mind shelling out some serious cash for the privilege, then congratulations, because the Lensbaby Edge 80 is going to give you just the level of control you were dying for.

But what do you guys think here? Anyone think the Lensbaby Edge 80 is going to be just the ticket for making your photos as unique as possible? Or is it going to be entirely too much of a specialists’ tool for you to use effectively? No matter what you think here, we always like hearing from you, so hit the comments section below and tell us what you think!
