Samsung Has Shipped 700,000 Galaxy Note Smartphones To Distributers In South Korea
We have been hearing quite a bit about the Samsung Galaxy Note lately. Just in the past few days alone we had heard that the oversized smartphone was coming to Rogers, Telus and Bell in Canada as well as AT&T in the US. Not to mention, Samsung decided to run their first ever Super Bowl commercial and it will be featuring none other than the Galaxy Note.

In short, it certainly looks like Samsung is putting quite a bit of marketing behind this device. The real question is going to be whether or not people are going to adopt a smartphone with a 5.3 inch display. And sure, with a display resolution of 1280 x 800 it is going to look really nice — but will users want to carry a device that is not easily pocketable?
That being said, it looks like Samsung has quite a few of these devices ready and waiting for customers. We had heard that Samsung shipped more than one million units globally in December. But more to the present day, Samsung has since confirmed that they have shipped more than 700,000 units in South Korea alone. Of course, the key point with these numbers — these are devices that have been shipped to sales channels and distributors as opposed to devices that have been purchased by end users.
Needless to say, with a few launches coming up fairly soon in Canada and a rather big push with AT&T here in the US — we suspect those numbers will only be growing. And while these numbers are always interesting to see, it would be much nicer to see actual sales numbers. After all, it does not mean all that much to have shipped 700,000 units in South Korea if 699,000 are still sitting on a shelf collecting dust.
So how about it, are any of the TFTS readers considering picking up a Galaxy Note?
