Sony Announces New PS Vita 3G Launch Bundle [New PS Vita 3G Bundles Come With Free PSN Title & Free Data For The Same Price As A Standalone 3G Vita]

There’s just under a month left to go before the PS Vita launches in North America and Europe, and to ensure that both models of the Vita have a good release, Sony has announced a new launch bundle for the 3G/WiFi model. This new bundle has a lot in common with the first edition 3G bundles that were up for pre-order a while back, but there’s a few key differences. Head past the break to find out what they are.

This new bundle will contain a 3G PS Vita, an 8GB memory card, a free PSN title, and AT&T DataConnect Pass good for one 250MB session, all for the normal price of $299.99. Sony seemed to imply that this is a limited edition bundle on the PlayStation Blog, saying that it was meant for those that brave the cold on launch day, so prospective buyers can expect it to sell out fast (of course, Sony probably would say that regardless of rarity). At the moment, this new bundle has only been confirmed for the US, but don’t be surprised if it makes an appearance in Europe as well.

By comparison, the first edition bundle comes with a 4GB memory card and a copy of Little Deviants. Sony has added the 250MB AT&T DataConnect Card and the free PSN title so those who pre-ordered won’t feel hosed with this new bundle on the market. Still, there are some who are complaining on the PlayStation Blog that this new bundle is getting a bigger memory card, but the free copy of Little Deviants included with the first edition bundle seems to even that out.

It appears that Sony isn’t confident that the 3G model will perform well when the system launches in North America and Europe. Considering that 3G PS Vitas are subject to the same restrictions that 3G cell phones have, I can’t really blame Sony for worrying, and wonder if maybe it would have been a better idea to only offer the WiFi model. That way, Sony wouldn’t have higher production costs to worry about, nor would it risk having one model succeed while the other fails.

I suppose we’ll just have to wait and see how well both models do when launch day arrives, but in the meantime, jump down to the comments section and share your opinion – are you buying one of these 3G Vita bundles, or will the WiFi model suit your needs just fine?
