Droid RAZR MAXX & Galaxy Nexus Heavily Discounted at Amazon [New LTE Android Handsets Are Cheaper at Amazon Than at Verizon for New Customers, 2-Year Contract Still Required]
Verizon launched today the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX, the company’s second RAZR Android LTE handset, just as we expected, but interested buyers should not necessarily buy the device from Verizon. The Droid RAZR MAXX is also available from Amazon Wireless, and the retailer is offering up to $100 of the regular price for the device when purchased with a new two-year contract.

The Droid RAZR MAXX, which was officially unveiled at CES 2012 a few weeks ago, costs $299.99 with new contracts at Verizon, but Amazon sells it for just $199.99 with the same contract. The price only applies to new Verizon subscribers that select a new individual or family account whereas existing subscribers will have to pay $229.99 for the device, which is still cheaper than Verizon’s price offer. The no-contract price for the Droid RAZR MAXX is $729.99 at Amazon.
But that’s not the only Amazon deal you should be aware of today. Amazon is also selling the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, the first Ice Cream Sandwich handset in the world, for just $99.99 with new two-year contracts. The offer is valid only for new individual and family account subscribers, while existing Verizon subscribers will be able to purchase the handset for $259.99. Adding a line to a family account will get you the phone for $179.99, while the full price of the device is $729.99. Meanwhile Verizon is selling this flagship device for $299.99 on contract.

Unfortunately the Droid RAZR MAXX has been sold out with Amazon, which means you’ll have to wait up to two weeks for the retailer to ship your unit. The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is in stock, so you’ll get it to your door in the following days if you order now.
Let’s hear it from you, smartphone fans, what Android LTE handset would you choose between the Galaxy Nexus and the Droid RAZR MAXX and why? Or will you buy a iPhone instead?
