iPhone 5 Specs Get Leaked Ahead Of Upcoming Release By Foxconn Workers

Okay folks, grab your Apple Rumor Salt Lick and settle in for a big shot of rumor, but this time, you may not need that salt on hand because the reports of a leak of the specs on Apple’s upcoming new flagship phone reportedly come from a very familiar source who was right once already.

The crew out at 9to5 Mac got word from a source out at Foxconn who filled them in on some of the details, and before we get into just what those details were, the big news here is that the source in question was the same one who told them that there would be no iPhone 5 in 2011, and rather, the iPhone 4S would be rolling out instead. With one success under said source’s belt, that lends an extra note of credibility to the concept. And, when you see what the source said about this one, you’ll get another note of credibility from the sheer rationality of the rumored specs.

Basically, what’s being reported out of Foxconn is that there are a variety of sample devices floating around, likely to fend off rumors like this one, but the devices have a lot of points in common. For instance, the samples all have over a four inch screen–one of which was made by LG–and none of them have a teardrop shape as was previously rumored. All of the samples are symmetrical in terms of thickness, and none of them have the iPhone 4S’ form factor. Moreover, none of them are the final version, so any of this could change at any given time.

But apparently, the source also spilled word that said Foxconn was winding up for production now, which pointed to a launch around time for the World Wide Developers’ Conference which usually hits in summer.

There’s still plenty of time until summer, of course, so any of this could turn around by then, but a four inch iPhone does make some sense, especially if it keeps up with some earlier reports of quad-core processors. Why not have a bigger display with a faster processor?
