Nokia Lumia 800 To Get Another Battery Update

Back in November, we first heard about the Nokia Lumia 800 having some troubles in terms of battery life. Over the days that followed, a firmware update was released for users in a bid to get the lights back on in Nokiatown, but even with a firmware update in hand, there were still plenty of people reporting that the devices ran out of juice far sooner than they should. Thus, we’ve got word in that, over the next two weeks, another software update will be landing to help get the life back in the battery.

The good part here is that this particular update is expected to be the update that actually fixes the battery life problem once and for all. And this is, of course, a good thing as reports from several quarters suggested that the device’s only real problem was its unusually short battery life, and even then, the problem didn’t show up in every handset. Admittedly, no one was going to consider this one a match for the iPhone 4S any time soon, but fixing the primary problem the handset has will only help it in the eyes of both those who already have the device and those who were looking to pick a device up.

You’ve got to hand it to Nokia for staying on top of the issue. Not only have they sent out one software update so far, but they’ve also reportedly had users who were having battery troubles send their phone in for replacement models, and now they’re coming out with a second update to hopefully fix the problem for good. It’s hard to knock a company that’s clearly and visibly putting a lot of time and effort into fixing a problem, though it’s not hard to wonder why they let the phones out in the first place with these problems on them. Still, mistakes do get made from time to time, so faulting Nokia over this seems a bit like overkill.
