MWC 2012: Samsung Galaxy S III Teased Well Ahead of Barcelona Mobile Show

CES 2012 Samsung Video Could Contain a Galaxy S III Teaser, Specs & Features for the Ice Cream Sandwich Phone Not Yet Revealed

Now that we’re done with CES 2012, we’re getting ready for the most important mobile tradeshow of the year, the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. As expected, MWC will reveal some of the most interesting mobile devices of the year, including new smartphones and tablets, with the main emphasis probably on Android.

One of the flagship handsets of 2012, whether Apple likes or not, will be the Samsung Galaxy S III, the main iPhone 5/6 rival, which is expected to be unveiled in Barcelona. The device, which will most likely run Ice Cream Sandwich may have already been shown during CES, in a Samsung video (embedded below), although the matter has only been discovered recently.

Pocket-lint notes that around the 7:11 minute mark Samsung shows a smartphone that seems to be similar to the Galaxy Note, but the device is not the popular hybrid set to hit U.S. stores soon. Apparently the device has about the same size of the Galaxy Note with one important difference:

It looks pretty big, that’s for sure – more like the 5.3-inch screen of the Galaxy Note than the 4.3 inches of the Galaxy S II’s display. However, the front facing camera position is around the same place as the S II’s.

Samsung has not revealed any details about the upcoming Galaxy S III yet and there aren’t that many unofficial reports on the device yet either. The video could be showing us a mock-up device to prove the point the company is making, but at the same time there’s always a chance the handset is based on an actual Galaxy S III design.

The Galaxy S III is going to be the Samsung flagship device of 2012, and since in the Android universe screen size is important, it will be interesting to see whether the Galaxy S III will have a larger display, similar to the one found on the Galaxy Nexus, or whether Samsung will keep it a 4.3-inch. I personally believe the next-gen Galaxy S model will have at least a 4.65-inch display, but we’ll bring you more details once the Galaxy S III starts leaking. Anyone already interested in this upcoming Android handset?
