The keyboard may well be one of the most important, yet most often overlooked, parts of your computer. And if you’re a Mac user, you’re about to get a whole new kind of keyboarding experience thanks to the folks behind Das Keyboard, who will be releasing the Model S Professional for Macs soon.

The Model S may not look like much, but it’s packing a surprising depth of features. For instance, the Model S Professional boasts gold-plated mechanical key switches for conductivity and surety of response, as well as some specific Mac keys that you won’t find on the PC version of the Model S, like Command and Option. Even better, it will also pack in a USB hub with a pair of extra ports (which is extra good as the keyboard itself is a USB keyboard), and an instant sleep capability.

Better yet, if you’re looking to get hands on a good old fashioned mechanical keyboard for your Mac, putting your money down now will get you a 15 percent discount, letting you get in on the fun for $113. They’re set to start selling April 15th, so if you’re interested, you’ll want to get your preorder in as soon as you can.

It’s a little pricey, I’d say, but then Mac stuff often is, and it’s not like you don’t get plenty of extra features on this one. Personally I say more keyboards should come with extra USB ports, especially when they take up a USB port on their own, so why not lend a little extra value by at least making sure you don’t lose a USB port to use them? And gaining an extra in the process, well, that’s even better.
