CES 2012: Nuance Dragon Go! Launches For Android

Nuance has announced a few goodies during CES this year, one of which arrived for the television — Dragon TV. The other is Dragon Go! and it has arrived in the Android Market. The Dragon Go! app for Android comes as a free download and means that Android users now have another option to consider when looking for voice control.

That being said, Dragon Go! landed in the Android Market as version 1.0 and will run on devices that have Android 2.1 or later. Also worth noting, according to the folks at Nuance, this app runs best on devices sporting 2.1 through 2.3.7. In terms of Ice Cream Sandwich, support for Android 4.0 is coming. And for those concerned about low internal storage space for apps, rest assured in knowing that this one measures in at a scant 5.5M.

In terms of what Dragon Go! can do — it allows you to ask questions and get answers without typing. For example you can say;

“Show times for Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” – Dragon Go! delivers you directly to Fandango.com featuring showtimes for your local theaters. The Dragon CarouselTM also enables you to compare results on IMDB, Twitter, and Rotten Tomatoes to get you all the need-to-know information for that movie!

In addition, Dragon Go! allows for things like Wolfram Alpha searches and easy sharing over social networks such as Twitter and Facebook as well as Gmail and Skype. A few other examples include the following;

‘What are the planes flying overhead?’ and get up-to-the-minute information from Wolfram|Alpha on all the flights currently crossing over your location.

Bottom line here, Dragon has been a well respected company in terms of voice recognition and a quality version has come available for Android users with Dragon Go!. That being said, it is available for free, which makes it even more appealing.
