CES 2012: Samsung Galaxy Note Gets Confirmed For Telus

We had already seen Telus announce that the Galaxy Nexus would be available beginning on January 13th. And well, it now looks like Telus will also be launching another Galaxy branded device from Samsung. The latest is the large screened smartphone, the Galaxy Note.

That being said, while the release has been confirmed by the carrier, they have yet to offer up anything specific in terms of a release date or price. Or more specifically, in terms of the price, they have not said anything at all and in terms of when, that was left as “coming soon.”

Otherwise, the Samsung Galaxy Note will come with features to include a 5.3 inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display, dual-core 1.4GHz processor, 2 megapixel front facing camera, an 8 megapixel rear facing camera with flash and a thickness of just 9.5mm.. In addition, the handset will arrive running Android 2.3 Gingerbread and come with support for the digital “S Pen” which is described as being “a unique tool that allows users to sketch, create, and enhance their experience on that huge screen with the precision and accuracy of a real pen.”

Also worth noting, the Samsung Galaxy Note will arrive as an LTE device for Telus. Or more specifically, the Galaxy Note will “run nationally on TELUS’ coast-to-coast HSPA+ network (which covers 97% of the Canadian population).”

Bottom line here, those with Telus will soon have an option to consider if they are looking for a tablet sized phone. All said and done, the Galaxy Note announcement for Telus sounds quite a bit like the Galaxy Note announcement for AT&T — both carriers have confirmed that the handset is coming, but neither have said anything in terms of a date or price. Either way, we suspect those details will come available sooner rather than later. And one last bit, looking towards the rumor mill — the Telus release has been tipped for February.
