CES 2012: Vizio Announces Five New & "Innovative" Personal Computers

Vizio Expanding Their Personal Computer Offerings, Announces Five New Windows 7 PC's Which Should Launch In Spring 2012

Coming just as CES 2012 is getting underway, it looks like Vizio has officially confirmed some recent rumors — they are indeed launching a line of personal computers. Though, while interesting to see, there are still some details that we need to get before we become super excited.

Anyway, according to the details coming from Vizio, their new line will be “innovative” and will consists of five models. So far Vizio has stated that the computers would be available in the Spring of 2012 and that they are going to “turn the PC market upside down and accomodate the entertainment needs and wants demanded by consumers.”

And while we cannot say that statement will turn out to be true, given what Vizio is offering with their HDTV’s and Blu-ray players in terms of quality and price, we do feel that their PC lineup will be something worth checking out. Otherwise, the lineup will consist of two all-in-one computers, two thin and light notebooks and one regular notebook.

In terms of specific details, so far those are on the light side. Vizio did make mention that they will be running Windows 7 and come “complete with top notch 2.1 audio and video quality” and that they were designed to “raise the bar in personal and home entertainment while also keeping powerful performance at the forefront.”

So far we have yet to see a full spec list posted for any of the machines, however on that front, it looks like the official Vizio CES page is still being set up. In other words, we expect those specs to be avaialble sooner rather than later. One thing does seem clear though, we are fairly certain that these models will be focused as much on entertainment than they will be on regular computing.

“PCs are often associated with productivity and the workplace, routinely lacking the excitement that would be expected with what and how consumers want to use their PCs today – as an extension of their entertainment experience,” said Matt McRae , Chief Technology Officer. “VIZIO wanted to change that. Our new line of VIZIO PCs are truly high quality and consumer focused, delivering enhanced multimedia capabilities while upholding our high standards of performance, style and design.”

And lastly, just to offer the tease, Vizio did comment that this lineup would come complete with high-performance hardware and sporting a clean system image that is optimized by Microsoft and featuring an “elegant” design made with high-quality materials.
