Dolphin Browser For iOS Gets Updated To Version 3.0

While the mobile version of Safari that comes pre-loaded on all iOS devices will work just fine for the majority of users, there are those who want a browser with a bit more in terms of features. And sure, the are plenty of alternatives available in the App Store, however one such browser has become a favorite for this guy — Dolphin Browser.

That being said, it looks like the folks behind the Dolphin Browser have recently rolled out an update. This latest update has arrived at version 3.0 and is available as the Dolphin Browser for the iPhone and iPod touch and the Dolphin Browser HD for the iPad — both of which are available for free. Otherwise, both the regular and HD versions of the app require iOS 4.0 or later for use.

With those basic details out of the way, lets get into the new features and changes that have come along with version 3.0. Lets begin with items that are shared across both versions. These include the following;

• Easier process for adding new Webzine columns
• Improved overall performance and stability
• Fixed page loading issues for easier browsing
• Fixed crash bugs on iOS 5
• Fixed keyboard popup issue that affected certain websites

And while the above list includes the changes from both versions, we should also note that concludes the changes for the non-HD version. Otherwise, the HD version (the iPad version) also has the following;

• Brand new Gesture interface and process
• Cleaner and simplified Webzine style

Bottom line here, if you are considering a change from the mobile version of Safari, we would suggest giving Dolphin Browser a look. After all, it is available for free and has quite a few worthwhile features, one of which we like the best are the gestures. In fact, the only drawback we see in using Dolphin is related to Apple — they will not let you change your default browser.
