MSI Launches A Pair Of New Gaming Laptops

MSI Brings Out Its GT783 & GT783R Gaming Laptops, Complete With Free Games

Ah, the gaming laptop–always an exciting venture into high-priced and high-powered hardware. And we’ve got a pair of new gaming laptops to check out from the folks at MSI, namely, the GT783 and the GT783R. And while there won’t be a lot separating the two in terms of specs or price, they’ll both be bringing in a pretty impressive hardware package.

The GT783 laptop from MSI offers up a 17.3 inch display showing at an impressive (especially for a laptop) 1920 x 1080 resolution, backed up by an Intel Core i7-2670QM processor running at 2.2 GHz, an Nvidia GeForce GTX580M graphics card, a Blu-ray burner, 12 gigs of DDR3 RAM, a backlit keyboard with plenty of custom options, and a 750 gig hard drive supplemented by a 128 gig solid state drive for a little extra speed.

Meanwhile, the GT783R will offer up everything, down to the last detail, that the GT783 does, but that R distinction means that they’ll be adding on a little extra RAM to 16 gig–both models will allow for expansion up to 32 gig–and the hard drive size will bump up to a pair of hard drives in full RAID 0 giving you fully 1.5 terabytes of storage. No solid state speed here, but the sheer size of storage makes up for that.

The prices on these might scare you off, especially since the GT783R will sell at $2299.99, and the GT783 will sell at a slightly more expensive $2499.99. However, with the 783, you’ll reportedly be able to get that in a bundle that comes with a backpack, headset, mouse, and a copy of Battlefield 3 included.

A pretty decent package overall, I’d say, if a bit on the pricey side overall. It should manage to strike a few chords with gamers who like an occasional change of scenery, but what do you guys think here? Figure that MSI’s new pair of laptops will get some ground under them? Or do you figure that these will see poor sales in the light of a value-conscious economy? No matter what you think, the comments section is waiting for you to tell us all about it below!
