Asus Teases Their 2012 "Flare" Netbook Lineup
While many have been thinking that the netbook days have ended and the ultrabook days have begun, it appears as if Asus has at least a few more netbooks that will soon be introduced. The new models are expected to be unveiled during CES and judging by these recently released images — they will be sporting a new exterior design.

Based on the details provided thus far, the new Eee PC netbook models will be ditching the seashell design in favor of the Flare design. As for the new models, those are expected to be the Eee PC 1025 and the Eee PC 1225, both of which will be Flare models. You can get a look at the design in the above image. Almost immediately noticeable from our point of view, the nicely curved sides that taper down towards the front and back.
Another of the more noticeable points comes with the palm rest, which is now a little bit elevated as compared to the keyboard. This is similar to the previously released MeeGo running Eee PC X101, but regardless if is Asus moving some style from an older release, an elevated palm rest should make for a bit more comfortable typing experience. In addition, the keyboards for both the 1025 and the 1225 are expected to retain the chiclet style keys and come as almost full-sized.

Some of the other items that we can see from the images include low-profile hinges and as we have seen with other Asus netbooks — a variety of colors. And nicely done, it appears that the bezel around the display will remain black, despite the coloring of the rest of the casing. As for the 1025 and 1225 models, these should have Cedar Trail processors and as implied by the numbers — 10 and 12 inch displays respectively.
With that, we look forward to seeing what Asus unveils during CES, which is coming up during the second week of January.
