Anonymous Targets Sony For Its Support Of SOPA [Anonymous Takes Notice Of Sony's Support Of SOPA, Says It Will Destroy Sony's Network]

Do you like playing online games over PSN? If you do, you might want to call up the folks Sony and beg them to reconsider their support of the Stop Online Piracy Act, because Sony’s support of the frightening bill has caught the attention of Anonymous. As PSN users already know, attracting the attention of Anonymous is not a good thing.

Okay, so we don’t know for sure that Anonymous was being the PSN attacks that occurred last spring, but considering anyone can take up the moniker of Anonymous and a fair few members of this “hacker collective” were pissed at Sony for taking PS3 jailbreaker GeoHot to court, it seems that someone associated with the group had a hand in bringing PSN down.

In any case, even if no one associated with Anonymous was responsible for the PSN attack, we know what Anonymous is capable of doing, and now it looks like it will be going after Sony anyway. The group has posted a new video message on Youtube, telling Sony that its days are numbered:

Your support to the act is a signed death warrant to SONY Company and Associates. Therefore, yet again, we have decided to destroy your network. We will dismantle your phantom from the internet. Prepare to be extinguished. Justice will be swift, and it will be for the people, whether some like it or not. Sony, you have been warned.

In addition to Sony, Anonymous also singled out Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Kim Kardashian, and Lady Gaga, saying that their support of the bill has attracted its wrath as well.

Make no mistake, I’m not crazy about SOPA – in fact, I think that the US congress has no idea what they’re attempting to pass and instead are just trying to push it through as fast as they can so the special interests that bought their vote can be satisfied. But even though I think SOPA is a crappy piece of legislation, I don’t see why PSN users have to suffer yet again for something that lies solely on Sony’s shoulders.

Don’t think they’ll suffer? They will. Anonymous knows that the quickest way to get a corporation to crumble is to get its customer base nice and pissed off, and what better way to do that than by bringing down PSN once more? Let’s just hope Sony is prepared this time around, eh? Watch Anonymous’ video message below, and keep it tuned right here to TFTS for more information on this as it develops.
