Windows Phone: HTC Radiant & Samsung Mandel Smartphones Revealed
We have heard in the past that Verizon Wireless was holding back on offering any additional Windows Phone devices until they had support for LTE. And well, it looks like two such devices may be announced fairly soon. But that being said, these details are coming as early reports and so far have yet to be tied directly to Verizon. Or for that matter, they have yet to be directly tied to any carrier.

In short, what we have seen thus far are details of two upcoming Windows Phone handsets. The information is coming by way of a recent report on The Verge, who are citing “people familiar with Microsoft’s plans.” In short, it looks like both HTC and Samsung have an LTE compatible Windows Phone device in the works.
The HTC device is the Radiant and the Samsung device is the Mandel. These of course, are both codenames as opposed to what we will see upon an actual release. In terms of details, both are rather light at the moment. As for the Samsung Mandel, this one is expected to bring a display that is “beyond the 4.3-inch Samsung Focus S.” The other important tidbit of information includes that both devices will be running a “pre-Tango version of Windows Phone.” And as far as that goes, that version of the software will bring support for LTE, which is something not offered in Windows Phone 7.5 Mango.
Otherwise at this time, we are simply left to wonder. So far the speculation is pointing towards an early 2012 availability, which could mean that these two devices will arrive around the time we see an LTE compatible Windows Phone device from Nokia. As far as an official announcement, that could potentially come during Mobile World Congress in February, however we suspect many are hoping that we will see something come CES in January.
