Valve: No Truth To Half-Life 3 Rumors [Valve Says Half-Life Fans Are Being Trolled By The Community With Rumors Of Half-Life 3]
Half-Life 3 is one of the most anticipated titles in the history of video games, and as a result, Half-Life fans will hang on every little thing they think is an indication that Half-Life 3 is on the way. This is made worse by the fact that Gabe Newell and his team at Valve aren’t above a little good old fashioned trolling, but at least they set the record straight when rumors have gone on long enough.

Unfortunately, setting the record straight in this case means telling all of those thinking that Half-Life 3 is about to be revealed that they’ve been trolled. According to Valve’s Chet Faliszek, who took to the Steam forums to reveal what’s actually going on, there’s no truth to these Half-Life 3 rumors – especially that one that involved a certain message from Wheatley at the Spike VGAs:
You are being trolled. There is no ARG. Wheatley’s speech was set in Portal 2 fiction – that is all. There has been no directive from Gabe to leak anything. That is all false. I just want to say this so there is no confusion. This is the community trolling the community nothing more. While it is nice to see people excited about anything HL, I hate seeing people be trolled like this. Thanks.
So there you have it. There currently aren’t any plans for Half-Life 3, and Gabe Newell is not telling employees to drop hints or leak info. Faliszek’s explanation should be enough to convince anyone that’s sure of Half-Life 3‘s existence otherwise, but sadly, you and I both know that this won’t be the case.

Instead, we’ll hear plenty of Half-Life fans say that this is all just some sort of conspiracy on Valve’s part – that Half-Life 3 actually is in development and Valve just wants us to think that it isn’t, thus this whole charade. Who knows, maybe that is actually the case, but at this point, I severely doubt it. It sounds like Half-Life 3 is still quite a ways off, but I suppose you never know about these things.
What do you think? Is this all just some big cover up that means to lead fans off the scent of Half-Life 3, or do you think that Valve is actually telling the truth here? Head down to the comments section to share you opinion and keep it tuned right here to TFTS – we’ll be sure to update you if any more Half-Life 3 evidence surfaces.
