Sony Tablet S To Get Ice Cream Sandwich [Sony's New Tablet Will Be Getting The Big Android Update, Though Word On Just When Isn't Announced]
If you, like the Pope, have already got your hands on a Sony Tablet S–or you were just thinking about it–then we’ve got some good news for you, as this one will be landing the big Android update and stepping up to Ice Cream Sandwich at some point. The bad news, of course, is that no one’s quite sure just when exactly said update will occur.

The story, essentially, goes back to a posting made by a Sony representative out at a Sony message board, reportedly confirming that Ice Cream Sandwich, otherwise known as Android 4.0, would be hitting the Tablet S at some point. The problem there, of course, is that no one was a hundred percent sure just when said point in the future was, and the best the company rep would offer was that it would be “announced in due course”.
This should be a pretty big help for the tablet, which is currently running Honeycomb and, at last report, offers no 3G connectivity in the United States. However, users should be pretty happy with the growing arsenal of Sony-specific services accessible through the Sony Tablet S, which should give the tablet a little brighter outlook as it can at least offer some things that Apple’s hotly popular iPad can’t.

Indeed, this is part of a growing number of Sony devices that are looking to take on the new Android version, including the still upcoming Tablet P, as well as several of Sony Ericsson’s Xperia smartphone versions. It’s good to see Sony keeping up with the changes in versions, as that’s going to be a lot of what helps them survive in the hotly competitive tablet market.
So what do you guys think about this one? Think that Sony’s Tablet S will get a nice boost in the marketplace if they can get Android 4.0 installed on the devices as rapidly as possible? Or will the upgrade to the operating system merely prolong the inevitable as Sony falls prey to a variety of competitors? No matter what you think about this one, the comments section is waiting for you below! So head on down and let’s talk Sony Tablet S and Ice Cream Sandwich!
