GameStop’s iOS Trade-In Program Labeled A Success [GameStop Reports Success With iOS Device Trade-In Program, Expects Increased Trade-In Rates In Weeks After Holiday Season]
Despite all of the crap GameStop pulls on a pretty regular basis, you have to give credit where credit is due: if there’s one thing that GameStop does right, it’s that it recognizes market trends and adjusts its business accordingly. We saw that with the purchase of Kongregate and Impulse earlier this year, and then again when GameStop announced it would begin accepting iOS device trade-ins a few months back.

We’re going to have to wait and see what GameStop does with Impulse, but at least its iOS endeavors seem to be working out well. GameStop has announced that their iOS trade-in program has been performing above expectations, and that it expects sales and trade-ins to climb even higher as customers trade-in older models that they don’t need anymore thanks to a certain gift-giving holiday that recently passed. Here’s what GameStop president Tony Bartel said in a press release from the used games giant:
The velocity of this trade program has exceeded our expectations. We expect to see strong post-holiday traffic as customers trade in older models that were replaced by gifts.
GameStop claimed in the press release that it gives up to $180 for an iPod Touch, $300 for an iPhone, and $400 for an iPad, which is a big heap of money with which to buy more video games. Naturally, the price you get for your iThing will depend on how new the model is and what condition its in, but if you’ve got an old device that you won’t be using anymore, it can’t hurt to take it over to GameStop and see what kind of store credit you can get.
Have you sold an iOS device to GameStop, or do you think that you can get a better price for your devices elsewhere? If you have sold an Apple device to GameStop, do you think you got a fair deal? Head down to the comments section and share your experience!
