Samsung Currently Reviewing An Ice Cream Sandwich Upgrade For The Galaxy S & 7" Galaxy Tab

Just before Christmas we learned that Samsung was not going to be rolling-out any Ice Cream Sandwich for the Galaxy S smartphone or for the original 7 inch Galaxy Tab tablet. And well, at the time we noted that the story sounded rather similar to one involving HTC and Gingerbread.

That being said, while the upgrade (or should we say lack of) sounded rather similar — the Samsung story seems to have gotten another chapter and this one is also going to sound rather similar. Yup, as many have likely guessed — Samsung is reconsidering and may end up rolling out Ice Cream Sandwich for those two sets of devices.

Of course, before anyone gets super excited here, lets shift gears for a moment and point out that they are simply reconsidering. In other words, nothing has yet to be confirmed. Well, aside from the fact that Samsung seems to be trying to cover their basis and make those users happy. And unfortunately for Samsung — they have sold lots of those devices. Who would have thought that selling so many Galaxy S smartphones would come back to get them?

Anyway, the news of the reconsideration is coming by way of a recent article in the Korean based ajnews site. Simply put, at this point Samsung is trying to find a way to bring Ice Cream Sandwich to the 7 inch Galaxy Tab and the Galaxy S.

That aside and speaking as an owner and regular user of a Verizon branded 7 inch Galaxy Tab tablet — I for one can live without Ice Cream Sandwich. Sure, it would be nice to have, but at the same time I also realize that the device is now getting a bit older and truthfully — despite not having Android 4.0 — it still does everything that I purchased it for. And it does it rather nicely running Gingerbread. All said and done, maybe this is just me being naive, but I sort of trust Samsung here and worry that by adding Ice Cream Sandwich my tablet may not run as nice.
