EEDAR: GTA V Will Be The Biggest Release In 2012 [EEDAR's Jesse Divnich Says Grand Theft Auto V Will Be Bigger Than Next Call Of Duty Title]

If there’s one game series that you know gamers and critics will both go crazy for, it’s Grand Theft Auto. Critics have sung the praises of each installment in the series while fans made each one a multi-million seller, and it seems like no one can get enough of Grand Theft Auto (or Rockstar for that matter).

There’s no doubt in anyone’s mind that the recently-announced Grand Theft Auto V will be one of next year’s big releases, but EEDAR analyst Jesse Divnich has told IndustryGamers that he thinks GTA V will be the biggest game of 2012:

It goes without saying that GTA V will be one of the year’s biggest releases, but I will take it one step farther and say GTA V will be 2012′s biggest release. Don’t get me wrong, Call of Duty will undoubtedly be huge, as it is every year and it may even grow, but if I had to call what will be a photo finish race, I will go with GTA V.

It isn’t every day that you see an industry analyst bet against Call of Duty, but Divnich has the guts to go there. But can Grand Theft Auto V actually beat next year’s Call of Duty release? Considering that Modern Warfare 3 had a bigger launch and sold much faster than every previous Call of Duty game, I remain unconvinced. Anticipation will be high for Grand Theft Auto V – of that I have no doubt – but I just don’t think Grand Theft Auto has the same kind of draw that Call of Duty does.

But who really knows? We’ll have to wait until later next year to find out if Divnich is right, but in the mean time, head down to the comments section and make your own predictions – will the launch of Grand Theft Auto V outshine that of the next Call of Duty, or will Call of Duty reign supreme for another year?
