Wii U To Launch In Second Half Of 2012
After a long period of silence, Nintendo is finally talking about the Wii U again. Many Nintendo fans are waiting with bated breath for more information on the Wii U, but even though Nintendo gave us some more news about the Wii U’s release date today, it unfortunately didn’t get very specific.

The key here is that Nintendo got a little more specific than it has in the past. When the Wii U was announced earlier this year, Nintendo said that it would be launching sometime after April 2012, yet sometime before the end of the year. Today, it shortened that release window by saying that the Wii U will now be launching sometime between June and December 2012.
So, not much progress there as far as the release date goes. At least now we know that gamers excited for the Wii U will have to go through the first six months in 2012 without it, and from the sounds of it, probably even longer. E3 2012 is going to be when Nintendo shows off the Wii U and all its bells, whistles, and capabilities, and with E3 2012 taking place at the beginning of June, I’d assume that Nintendo won’t launch the Wii U until August or (even more likely) September.
All of that is just a guess, however. Really, we won’t know until Nintendo makes an official announcement, but if you’re looking forward to the Wii U, it probably isn’t a good idea to get your hopes up for anything earlier than a fall 2012 release date.
What do you think? Will we see the Wii U launch closer to June 2012, or do you think Nintendo will wait until we’re closing in on the holiday shopping season? Are you looking forward to the Wii U?
