Verizon Details & Begins Rolling Out Droid RAZR Software Update [Droid RAZR Software Update Begins; Will Arrive As A Maintenance Update with Several Enhancements & Improvements]

The Droid RAZR, both in the original black as well as the more recently released white model have not been available all that long. But that aside, it looks like Verizon Wireless has begun rolling out a software update. This one is coming as a maintenance style update and looks to be bringing some goodies including improvements in terms of 3G/4G data connectivity.

As for the update itself, that measures in at 57MB in size and according to Verizon — should take anywhere from 20 to 45 minutes to download and then another 5 to 10 minutes to install. That being said, we here at TFTS suggest waiting until you have a good hour before you update. After all, this will take some time and you will not be able to use your phone during the process.

Otherwise, the usual warnings and suggestions come into play here. You have the option to sit back and wait for the update notification to arrive on your device or you can take the pro-active approach and search it out. We always suggest waiting a few days before updating as things sometimes go wrong and we would prefer to have a slightly older version of the software and have it working as opposed to the most recent version and have it not working. Still, we suspect many are the impatient types and if you fall into that category, grab your RAZR and navigate to Menu -> Settings -> About phone -> System updates to check.

And lastly, regardless of the path you choose, here is what you can expect in terms of changes;

Improved camera features and quality.
Improved stability of menu access, Browser, Phone Dialer, video playback and music player to prevent Force Close errors and lockups.
Email, Messaging & Data
Updated group message notification.
Improvement in 3G/4G data connectivity.
Maintain network connection upon completion of a voice call.
Applications & Widgets
Background color has been adjusted to improve readability in Lapdock connection UI menu items.
