Razer's Blade Gets Delayed, The Tiamat Headset Held Back Too
Yes folks, it’s bad news central for the gamers out there as Razer announces that its new Blade laptop will be seeing a bit of a delay on its release into next year, and so too will be the Tiamat headset. But it’s not all bad news, as Razer’s got a special treat in line to make up for it.

The reasons behind the delay are almost frustratingly simple: they basically just want to do some last-minute tweaking to the hardware in a bid to ensure top performance. For instance, the Razer is getting its original 320 gig hard drive swapped out for a 256 gig solid state drive instead, a move that may offer less in the way of storage, but will seriously up the ante in terms of speed and durability. Meanwhile, the 7.1 channel surround sound headset known as the Tiamat will be getting a few minor extra touches.

Now, for those of you who preordered and are left feeling a little nonplussed that your Razer Blade has now been bumped back to a rather indefinite time frame known as “mid to late January”, and that your Tiamat is now “late January”, take heart. Razer doesn’t expect you to just suck it up and stop whining, oh no. They’re giving away free swag by way of apology. Razer Blade preorders can now get a free custom Razer Orochi mouse, that will ship with the laptop when it ships, and Tiamat customers get a free Razer T-shirt and a Razer flask. Hit the “notify me” button on the Razer Blade preorder page, or the “stay notified” button on the Tiamat’s to get in on the gifts.

I’m sorry, but that’s a classy move as far as I”m concerned. Most places, delays are just announced with you expected to greet it with nothing but a hangdog expression and a sigh of “Okay”, but Razer’s actually giving away free stuff because they delayed you. If Razer gear weren’t so pricey I figure that this kind of customer service would make picking their stuff up well worth it, and might still be for some.
But what about for you? Interested in working with Razer hardware more that you see what they do for you? Or does the price, and the wide availability of cheaper reasonable substitutes, leave you cold? No matter what you think, tell us about it in the comments section!
