Nintendo Begins Adding 3DS Ambassador Games To eShop In Japan

Nintendo Releases The Legend Of Zelda On Japanese eShop - Will It Release The Other 3DS Ambassador Games?

Are you bummed because you bought your 3DS after Nintendo implemented its price cut, which prevented you from becoming a 3DS Ambassador? Jealous of all of your fellow 3DS owners and their classic games from the NES and GBA eras? Take heart, bargain shoppers, because it looks like Nintendo might begin offering those 3DS Ambassador games through the eShop.

That’s because the big N has just released the NES classic The Legend of Zelda on Japan’s eShop. This marks that first 3DS Ambassador game that’s been made available to all 3DS owners, but there’s no telling just how many of many of them Nintendo will release. They may have plans to eventually release all 20 3DS Ambassador titles – 10 NES and 10 GBA – but could just as well stop after The Legend of Zelda.

If Nintendo does end up releasing all of the 3DS Ambassador games on the eShop, I can’t see many Ambassadors being happy with that. Then again, Ambassadors got all 20 of them for free, which is what should matter in this case. Speaking of free, you 3DS Ambassadors can download this new version of The Legend of Zelda at no cost, as a means of updating your game (so long as you initially downloaded the Japanese version of the 3DS Ambassador games, of course).

There’s no word yet on whether or not Nintendo will release The Legend of Zelda on the North American and European eShop, but if they do, don’t expect a lot of fanfare about it – Nintendo kept quiet about the Japanese release of The Legend of Zelda, sneaking it onto the eShop and then making the announcement after it had released.

What do you think? Would you be interested in buying The Legend of Zelda if Nintendo brought it to the eShop in Europe and North America? Do you think Nintendo will begin releasing the 3DS Ambassador games on the eShop, or will it keep the majority of them exclusive to 3DS early adopters? Leave a comment with your opinion and keep checking back here with us – we’ll update you if Nintendo of America or Nintendo of Europe make any announcements about The Legend of Zelda!
