Dell Offers Up Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread For The Streak 5 Tablet [Dell Streak 5 Gets Another (Seemingly Minor) Update, Goes Up To Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread]

Dell may have officially discontinued the Streak 5 tablet back in the middle of August, however that does not seem to have stopped them from rolling-out another software update. And while that little bit sounds rather nice, we should state right up front — this update is on the minor side.

In other words, Dell has not given Streak 5 users Ice Cream Sandwich. Instead, this latest update arrives as Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread. And while we sense that some Streak users may be disappointed, we suspect that given the situation with this device — any update is welcomed.

The update arrives as a 155MB file and as of now this one is not available by way of the “Dell Software Update” option on your device. Instead, this update arrives as a file that you will have to manually download and then flash to your device. It was also noted by the folks over at xda-developers that you will need to have the “correct stock recovery (version 350) installed” in order to get this update to install properly.

That being said, if you are reading this and wondering what that last bit means, it may be best to stick with the version that you are currently running. Well, that or hit the xda-developers forums and do some research. And if you take that route and something goes wrong in the process, don’t say we did not warn you. Otherwise, the details for this update are rather basic and break down as follows;
