CES 2012: Samsung Smart TV Teaser Promises Us an Even Better Connected TV Experience [Samsung Subliminal Message Received, South Korean Company Highly Committed to Smart TV; Apple TV Who?]
With over two weeks to go until CES 2012 kicks off, we’re already receiving plenty of news regarding the upcoming Las Vegas event, with Microsoft’s and CEA’s divorce being one of the latest updates regarding the future of the Consumer Electronics Show.

But some companies, like LG and Samsung, can’t wait for CES 2012 to start to show us wonderful new things. And while we already saw an LG monitor earlier today, we’re a lot more interested in Samsung’s future line of Smart TVs. That’s exactly the kind of product the company decided to tease us with, just three days before Christmas.
As you can see in the video below, Samsung is promising something spectacular for January, at least when it comes to Smart TV. Without revealing that many details about the upcoming changes it plans to make to its Smart TV lines, the company does emphasize on the need of change of the TV over the years.
From what we can gather so far, Samsung’s future Smart TV will work seamlessly with other devices including the company’s Android smartphones and tablets. Why else feature such devices in the teaser? Sure, there are plenty of tablets and smartphones around us, but that’s not what Samsung is implying with the ad. And considering that Samsung sells plenty of smartphones, why not make them work with its 2012 line of Smart TVs?
The next guess concerns Google TV. Will Samsung incorporate it in its future line of HDTVs? That’s a logical assumption considering that it has been working with Google for a few years already on Android and Chrome OS devices. Or will Samsung continue to develop its own connected TV environment complete with social networking integration and apps support?
From a different point of view, it also looks like Samsung is already countering the Apple TV rumors we heard a few days ago with the teaser. Apple is yet to reveal its Apple TV set plans, and we have no idea when such a product will come to fruition. But unlike others, Apple will want to immerse the consumers in the Apple TV experience by offering them a lot of extra content from its iTunes stores in addition to what would already be available from cable provider. Would a Samsung Smart TV be able to match such offerings?
It’s too early to go into an Apple vs Samsung battle in the TV ecosystem, but we’ll certainly tell you all about Samsung’s upcoming line of Smart TVs early next year, so don’t go anywhere!
