Spotify For BlackBerry Leaves Behind The Beta Status, Now Available For All

Spotify Now Available For The BlackBerry, App Can Be Found & Downloaded By Way Of The Mobile Spotify Website

Spotify announced and released a BlackBerry app way back in the middle of October. And while that came as good news for those using a BlackBerry and wanting to check out Spotify — that release came as a “preview release” as opposed to a regular good-for-all release.

That being said, flash forward to the present day and it looks like the Spotify app for the BlackBerry has left behind the beta-preview-release status. Yup, Spotify for BlackBerry is officially available for any and all that want to use it.

Well, more specifically, Spotify for BlackBerry is now officially available for any and all that want to use it — assuming they have one of the few supported handsets. In terms of supported BlackBerry devices, here is how that list breaks down;

  • Bold 9780
  • Bold 9700
  • Bold 9000
  • Curve 9300
  • Curve 8520

And further details from the folks at Spotify mention that the app currently only supports phones running on GSM networks. In other words, those using a CDMA-capable BlackBerry will not be able to enjoy the music. Well, at least not with Spotify anyway. Specifically, it was noted that “CDMA-network phones and the Torch 9800 are not compatible.”

Those with a supported BlackBerry in hand looking to begin using Spotify can surf on over to m.spotify.com to download the app. From there, users will be able to get a free trial. A quick note on the trial period — if you sign up from the device you will get a 48-hour free trial and if you sign up using the regular web you can get a 30-day free trial. In other words, sign up for your Spotify account using a desktop browser. And for those curious, a Premium Spotify account will set you back $9.99 after your trial ends.

Last but certainly not list, here are some of the features that one can expect to see when using Spotify on the BlackBerry;

  • Million of songs available instantly on your Blackberry.
  • Offline playlists – listen to music with no mobile connection and avoid using your data allowance
  • Create and sync playlists
  • Star your favourite tracks
  • Search tracks, artists, album
  • Browse “What’s new” and “Top tracks”
  • Scrobble tracks to Last.fm
  • Receive music from friends via the inbox
