Droid Bionic 5.9.901 Software Update Changelog Posted [Verizon Releases Another Software Update For The Droid Bionic; This One Includes Numerous Enhancements & Improvements]
We saw Verizon Wireless announce and roll-out a software update for the Droid Bionic at the beginning of the month. Given that, many would have thought that the handset would have been good to go for a while. That being said, it appears as if the updates were not done because Verizon has since begun rolling out another.

Yup, a second software update has come available for the Droid Bionic this month. This latest arrived as a bit of a mystery given that Verizon is still detailing the 5.5.893 update on the Droid Bionic support pages. In short, this latest update began appearing a few days earlier and left users scratching their heads as to what was changing. The update came as 5.9.901 and as of today, it looks like the complete (and rather long) changelog has appeared.

- Preload Sling stub application
- Preload MOG stub application
- VZNavigator preload updated to version 7.2.0.452
- Youtube videos restart after pausing to access Notification Panel
- Youtube screen flashes when Back key pressed during video play

Data Connectivity
- Stuck in 3G mode in strong 4G coverage

- Dual IMSI support
- Excessive LTE handover attempts (SIB8 messaging processing)
- Improvements in Wi-Fi Mobile Hotspot LTE download performance
Device Operation
- OTA update needs to utilize Admin APN
- Support for National Plus Code Dialing
- Cannot play WAV files
- Support for Bluetooth Personal Area Networks (PAN)
- Missing SMS alerts while on voice calls
- Choppy audio while streaming via to a TV via HDMI
- No Bluetooth audio when paired and connected
Stability/Performance Improvements
- Black screen lockups
- Reduced idle resets
- Voice call drops when SMS message is received
- Lockups when XT875 is in the multimedia dock
- Resets after camera multi-shots are taken
- Internal memory file creation dates shown as December 31, 1969
- Clock widget time does not match Notification Panel time
That being said, Droid Bionic users may want to grab their handset and check to see which version they are running. And remember, if your device is listing 5.5.893 you will have another update either ready, or coming available sooner rather than later. And lastly, just to clarify, the latest version for the Droid Bionic is now 5.9.901.
