Steam Holiday Sale: The Witcher, Half-Life, Duke Nukem Forever On Sale Today [Modern Warfare 2, Tropico 4 Also Discounted, Players Get A New Round Of Great Gift Pile Objectives]
Another day, another round of Steam deals. Valve kicked off its holiday sale yesterday with some deep discounts on a group of really good games, but I’m tempted to argue that today’s deals might be even better. Of course, many of the games in Steam’s catalog are discounted during the holiday sale, but each day a new group of games is highlighted and discounted even further.

Just like yesterday, there’s a healthy dose of both triple-A and indie titles in today’s featured deals, with the Witcher franchise, the Half-Life franchise, Double Fine’s Costume Quest and Psychonauts, and Modern Warfare 2 all making it into the spotlight. Here’s the full list of today’s featured offers:
- Lego Batman – $4.99 (75% off)
- Tropico 4 – $13.59 (66% off)
- Sacred Franchise – 50% off
- Duke Nukem Forever – $4.99 (75% off)
- Half-Life Franchise – 75% off
- The Witcher – $2.49 (75% off)
- The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings – $23.99 (40% off)
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 – $14.99 (50% off)
- Dungeons of Dredmor – $1.24 (75% off)
- Chantelise: A Tale of Two Sisters – $2.49 (75% off)
- Recettear: An Item Shop’s Tale – $4.99 (75% off)
- Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad – $19.99 (50% off)
- Theatre of War Franchise – 75% off
- Costume Quest – $3.74 (75% off)
- Psychonauts – $2.49 (75% off)
Dungeons of Dredmor, Psychonauts, Tropico 4 and Red Orchestra 2 all have objectives to complete in today’s round of Great Gift Pile achievements, so if you’re going to purchase those, be sure to complete the objectives before 1 PM Eastern tomorrow. I know that most of the attention will probably be on Modern Warfare 2, Half-Life and The Witcher, but I highly suggest giving Recettear a try. It’s a unique little game where you play as a shop keeper who must repay her missing father’s massive debt. It’s addictive, original, and worth twice as much as its normal $20 price tag – an absolute steal at only $5.

Dungeons of Dredmor is also an extremely good and extremely cheap title for those that don’t have much of a gaming budget to work with. It can be tough as nails if you don’t meticulously plan what you’re going to do, but then again, what good rougelike isn’t? At $1.24, you’re getting a lot of game for a tiny amount of cash, and anyone who likes a challenge needs this game in their Steam library.
That’s it for today’s deal roundup, but there’s still plenty of days left to go in Steam’s holiday sale. Head down to the comments section to tell us what you’ve got your eye on and keep checking back with us at TFTS – we’ll have more updates about Steam’s holiday sale as the deals continue to roll in!
