Archos 70b IT Tablet Gets Unveiling For Later Shipment
If you’ve been looking at the stock of tablets of late, and finding them a bit wanting, it’s no surprise. Sure, there are plenty of great tablets out there if you’re willing to drop a week’s pay or two, but for those out there who find themselves on a little tighter budget, yet still want the flexibility and power a tablet can offer, there hasn’t been much. The folks at Archos, meanwhile, want to change that thanks to the Archos 70b IT, and our friends out at the Max Borges Agency tipped us off on this one.

The Archos 70b IT tablet offers up a capacitive touch screen display showing at a resolution of 1024 x 600, and that’s backed up by a 1.2 GHz processor, eight gigs of onboard storage (along with support for microSD cards, giving you plenty more storage potential), 512 megs of RAM, HDMI output, wi-fi connectivity (doesn’t look like there will be one with 3G support, at least not yet), and the Honeycomb version of Android, which will be very helpful as this one will let you get in on the Android Market.
Not bad, right? Well, it gets better. See, you can’t actually get your hands on one of these just yet, as Archos is going to take these out to the big show at CES 2012 to show them off. But once that’s taken care of, you’ll be able to get your hands on one of these later in January for the surprisingly slim price of $199.

Generally you don’t see tablets weigh in at $199, at least not without a book store somehow connected to them, but this has some pretty nice tech specs backed up by a terrific price, and that makes this one well worth considering if you’re looking to join in on the tablet fun but can’t quite bring yourself to shell out the kind of cash necessary for Apple’s entrant or one of the bigger name Android devices. And the best part is, it isn’t likely to be swamped by the upcoming flood of new tablets that we’ll likely see in 2012, between the new iPad (possibly iPads) and the various other offerings we’ll likely get a look at.
So what do you guys think? $199 too much to ask for the Archos 70b IT tablet? Or does this one have a good shot at getting in on the budget friendly market? No matter what you think, head on down to the comments section and tell us what you think!
