HTC Elite (Congressional) Android Handset & HTC 4G LTE Windows Phone Coming from AT&T Next Year
A new report says that AT&T will launch two new flagship smartphones in the first part of 2012, one running Android and the other Windows Phone OS. Both devices are going to be created by HTC and we’re probably going to see them get official in Las Vegas at CES next month.

The Android handset is going to be called either the HTC Elite or the HTC Congressional and it’s going to run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich right out of the box. The device is expected to sport Beats Audio technology and it’s probably going to offer 4G LTE connectivity too. The handset is said to be launched in the first or second week of April, and while we don’t have any prices we expect it to sell anywhere from $199.99 to $299.99 with new contracts, considering it’s going to be a flagship device.
What’s more interesting is that the carrier will offer Windows Phone fans the first WP7 handset in the world to come with 4G LTE capabilities. The device is rumored to pack a 4.7-inch touchscreen display just like the HTC Titan, a WP7 smartphone that’s already selling in AT&T stores, and to launch on February 5. Those of you thinking about getting a Titan should wait a few more weeks to see whether HTC and AT&T will confirm that release date, as you might be more interested in a 4G LTE version of the handset.
BGR also reports that HTC is on the verge of changing its whole business approach next year. The company plans to launch fewer phones, in order to focus on quality rather than quantity. The HTC Elite is apparently going to be the flagship device of the first half of the year for the company, and I’ll have to say it’ll be pretty interesting not to see HTC launch a new device every few months if not sooner.
Are you going to wait for either the Elite or the new LTE Windows Phone handset or are you buying an HTC smartphone right now?
