CyanogenMod Alpha 3.5 Now Available For The HP TouchPad
We have seen a few releases in terms of Android for the HP TouchPad up until this point and as of today — it looks like we have a fourth release to play with. Yup, the folks behind the CyanogenMod software have offered up the latest release for the TouchPad tablet.

That being said, this release comes as another in the alpha stage. More specifically, this one appears to be a smaller step up from Alpha 3. But at the same time, it should be quite a bit ahead of the Alpha 1 and Alpha 2 releases. With that and without any further adieu, the latest release comes as CyanogenMod 7.1.0 Alpha 3.5, which is based off of Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread.
This release is still dubbed the “I Know ICS Source Was Released” edition, and brings the following in terms of changes and/or improvements.
- Video playback improvements
- UI Composition improvements(nothing major)
- 3D speed improvements in some circumstances
- 3D game compatibility improvements(Shadowrun tested, but other games may work better as well)
- Some changes to wpa_supplicant, remains to be seen whether it makes any difference
Bottom line, we still have no official word in terms of when to expect a non-Alpha release, however that aside — speaking from personal experience — Android is running rather nicely on the TouchPad. Me personally, I never made it around to installing the Alpha 3 release, but that is just because Alpha 2 had been working just fine. In fact, I may even skip over Alpha 3.5. Of course, I would not expect every TouchPad user to feel the same and that being the case, the Alpha 3.5 release can be installed using either the Clockwork MOD Recovery or ACME Installer tools.
Otherwise, as with previous CyanogenMod releases for the TouchPad, the team behind the software have asked for no direct links. In other words, you can follow the source link below, but that is going to take you to the general announcement post and from there — you will be able to read a bit more and also find that download link so you can get started installing.
