Everyone should know that cheating gets you nowhere in life, but unfortunately that little tidbit of wisdom doesn’t stop people from cheating in Modern Warfare 3. Since the moral lesson doesn’t do anything to turn Modern Warfare 3 players from their cheating ways, Infinity Ward has come up with a solution that’s a little more real: bans that last 5,000 days.
That’s roughly 13.7 years, in case you were wondering. The ridiculously long bans were first reported by gaming site MP1st, which was notified by an anonymous player who had attracted such a harsh penalty. Infinity Ward creative strategist Robert Bowling spotted story and replied on Twitter with, “Player Banned for 5000 days?! Yes. If you see this message, it means you’ve been Permabanned (for something bad).”
Bowling didn’t clarify what kind of actions could net such a long ban, but it’s probably better to play it safe and just not cheat at all if you’re really concerned that a 5,000 day ban could be coming your way. Hopefully the will do something to curb Modern Warfare 3‘s cheating before it really begins, as Call of Duty games are notorious for attracting cheaters later in life.
It should be an effective strategy on Infinity Ward’s part for sure, but it would even more effective if there wasn’t another Call of Duty game just a year away. If Infinity Ward really wanted to instill a sense of fear in the hearts of cheaters, it would threaten bans that span the entire Call of Duty series, past, present, and future.

Permaban is better, I don’t see what’s harsh about it whatsoever. Just confirm, ban, move on.
i think this is puthetic, i hate hackers cause i think they only hack because their so bad they have to hack to do good, i think infinity ward should prtoect pst present and future games from hackers but you know what not even half the hackers are caught, and personally i dont think infinity ward cares to much because i think they purposely let hackers hack when its almost time for a new cod game so who ever
else plays the older cod games will get tired of hackers and buy the new one where theirs less of it, well guess what allot of people like the older 1′s than the newer ones, so what i think of hackers and infinity ward is f*** you for not caring noob
i think hackers should be banned from xbox perm for hacking because their moding the system to influnce the outcome of the game and they dont know how to play and both those things would get you banned and instead of saying your banned for 9999 days or 5000 days i think they should say haha this is what you get for hacking BANNED FOR LIFE but to be nicer they should say, from and you have been caught hacking so you are banned for life. if they can hack cod more than likely they can hack most games so perm ban is best. i also think microsoft and infinity ward should care about hackers and stuff like that more like when you are playing infected and the last human is in a place where theirs only one door and you hide so the infected cant get you and you have an affected guy block the only door in their so none of the other infected can get in their thats tecniqually cheating or could be called not understanding how the game is played so that is automatical banned which if you get caught is for 9999 years so it should just say for life
