Pantech P4100 Tablet Lands In FCC Hands

FCC Run For The Pantech P4100 Shows Off A Tablet With LTE Capability & A Shot At AT&T Network Coverage

The Pantech P4100 tablet hasn’t had a whole lot of new information emerge around it, but its recent trip through the FCC has provided a few choice tidbits that we can bring out. And what we know so far makes it look fairly interesting, if you’re in the market for a bargain tablet now that the HP TouchPad fire sales have finally burned out.

Right now, the most current word on the Pantech P4100 tablet suggests that the tablet will be packing a MSM8260 process running at 1.5 GHz, backed up by Android 3.2 (or Honeycomb, for those who favor the sweet name), graphics provided by an Adreno 220, as well as a display showing at 1024 x 720 resolution. Not much to go on, admittedly, but the word out of the FCC suggests that this is also going to offer up LTE support, as well as 3G capabilities. Neither of which is exactly a huge surprise–many tablets offer that kind of connectivity–but the word is that the bands involved in the 3G and the LTE are just right for AT&T’s network.

Plus, if you consider AT&T’s other offerings, you start to notice that AT&T tablets are a bit on the pricey side, like the HTC Jetstream and the Samsung Galaxy Tab, so AT&T may be looking for a bargain tablet to round out its offerings and get in the budget-conscious shoppers, who are, not surprisingly, a pretty big market right now.

And while FCC testing doesn’t always mean a product release, you pretty much have to have one before you can release–as far as communications technology goes, anyway–so we may actually see this one hit in the not too distant future.

So what do you guys think here? Figure that AT&T could stand a low-priced tablet to give the bargain hunters something to see? Or do you think that this one won’t make it to shelves after all? No matter what you think about this one, we definitely want to hear from you, so hit the comments section below and tell us what you think about the Pantech P4100 tablet!
