Alan Wake PC Version In The Works?

Rememdy’s psychological thriller Alan Wake is considered by many gamers and critics to be one of last year’s best games, but unfortunately only Xbox 360 owners got to experience the Twin Peaks-esque thrill fest, much to the dismay of PC and PS3 gamers. If you were one of these disappointed gamers, take heart, because some Steam registry entries suggest that a PC version of Alan Wake is in the works.

The entries were discovered by some NeoGAF users who were apparently using the Steam registry to find out what the games were included in the next Humble Indie Bundle. This, of course, isn’t official confirmation of the existence of a PC version of Alan Wake, but if Remedy has Alan Wake in the Steam registry, chances seem good that a PC version has moved past the planning stages of development. Not only that, but Remendy’s Aki Järvilehto hinted at a PC release in an interview with Finnish website YLEX yesterday (as reported by JustPushStart):

We have received feedback from a lot of PC gamers, and I have to admit that yes, we somehow ignored that. Let’s see if in the near future we could have some positive news to tell you about dating!

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of a PC version of Alan Wake, with Remedy going back and forth between an exclusive and multiplatform release numerous times during development. With Alan Wake’s American Nightmare announced at the VGAs this past weekend, it’s entirely possible that Remedy was inspired to return to the original game and deliver the PC port it once considered.
