Samsung Series 5 Ultrabook Unveiled, Will Be Available With A 13" Or 14" Display

Samsung Announces The Series 5 Ultrabook, Should Be Available For Those In South Korea By The End Of December

Samsung has come forward with an official announcement on the Series 5 Ultrabooks. Except while these look to be priced and spec’d rather nicely, it looks like the release is going to be a bit limited. At the moment, the Samsung Series 5 ultrabooks are heading only to South Korea.

That being said, the Samsung Series 5 ultrabooks have been announced for South Korea and will be available in a 13 inch and a 14 inch model. These are both expected to arrive for sale sometime later in December and will be priced from 1,290,000 won to 1,490,000 won (about $1125 to $1298 in terms of US dollars) for 13 inch model and 1,340,000 won to 1,540,000 won (about $1167 to $1341 in terms of US dollars) for the 14 inch model.

As to the features aside from the display. These ultrabooks will come with options for goodies to include up to 8GB of RAM, up to 128GB of SSD based storage and powered by Intel Core i5 processors. In addition, the 14 inch model will be touting an optical drive, a first for an ultrabook.

Breaking each of these down a bit further and we have the 13 inch Series 5 ultrabook which comes standard with either 500GB of hard disk storage with 16GB of SSD storage along with integrated Intel graphics a weight of 1.4kg and a 1366 x 768 display resolution with an anti-reflective coating.

The 14 inch model will have a similar (1366 x 768) display resolution with anti-reflective coating along with 1TB of hard drive storage with 16GB of SSD storage. In addition, the 14 inch model will bring other goodies such as a 1.8kg weight and AMD HD7550M GPU.

Both ultrabooks will have the standard goodies such as Wi-Fi, Ethernet, HDMI, VGA and USB ports. And lastly, Samsung is also going to ship the Series 5 ultrabooks with ExpressCache which means that they will be able to go from hibernation to desktop in roughly 7 seconds along with Samsung’s Fast Start which should be able to bring either model from sleep to desktop in about 2 seconds.
